How to Laminate Documents Using A Pouch Laminator

If you want to keep your photographs and documents in great shape, you should run them through a pouch laminator. Using one of these devices is surprisingly easy. Keep reading to learn which steps you need to take to successfully use a pouch laminator.

1. First of all, make sure that your machine is plugged in and turned on. If it's not, go ahead and start up the machine.
2. Now it's time to choose the right heat setting. You'll need to pick a setting that's compatible with the laminating pouches you're going to use. Many machines have settings that correspond with pouch thickness. If your device doesn't have this and has temperature settings instead, take a look at the instruction manual to see which one is appropriate. Generally, the thicker the pouch, the hotter the device needs to be.
3. As your machine is warming up, insert your document into a laminating pouch. Make sure the item is centered so that there's a border around it. This ensures that the document will be laminated properly.
4. Put the pouch in a laminating carrier. The carrier looks like a paper folder and one is included in every package of laminating pouches. The sealed edge of the pouch should touch the carrier's folded edge.
5. Now that your machine is warmed up, you can insert the carrier containing your document into the machine. The folded edge of the carrier needs to go in first. This helps smooth out air bubbles so your document will look great.
6. After your item has been laminated it will come out of the back of the machine. Leave the document in the carrier and set it on a flat surface to cool off. When it's cooled down, you can take it out of the pouch. Hopefully, it will look great. If you see any wrinkles or haziness, make sure you adjust the heat settings for your next document.
7. If you have more items to laminate, go ahead and repeat steps 1 through 6. When you're done, switch to your machine's cold setting (if it has one) and let it cool down for a while. You can then turn it off. Using the cold setting at the end of the process reduces wear and tear so you'll be able to get a lot of use out of your laminator.
