Troubleshooting Your Desktop Paper Folding Machine

One of the best things about paper folding machines is that they make a common office task much less time-consuming and tedious. However, it can be very frustrating when your folder goes on the fritz or when you end up with wrinkled documents. Luckily, you may be able to fix things without a lot of trouble. Here are the three most common paper folder problems and how to solve them:

Problem #1: The paper isn't being fed into the machine properly. If the paper isn't being fed properly, it's usually a pretty easy fix. First, make sure there are at least 20 sheets of paper in the feed tray. These machines can malfunction if the feed tray isn't full enough. You should also look to see if the ink on your documents might be wet. If that's the case, wait until the ink dies because folding your work. You should also jog the paper before putting it in the machine. Also, part of the problem might a dirty roller or separator. If one or both of these parts are dirty, you can clean them with a bit of soap and water. (Make sure the machine is turned off before you do this.)

Problem #2: The machine won't start when you press the START/STOP key. This is a pretty common event. You should first see if the machine is plugged in. If the folder is using juice from a power strip, should should also check to see that the power strip is on. However, if the machine still doesn't power on despite being connected to a power source, it may be jammed up. Take a look inside the device to see if there's a jam and remove the offending sheets (if any).

Problem #3: Your folded documents are wrinkled. Finally, you might find that your documents look wrinkled after they've been folded. There are a few ways to prevent this from happening. First, only fold your documents after the ink has dried. Second, keep the rollers clean. If the rollers are covered in dust or debris, the paper will slip as it's being folded which will cause it to wrinkle. Also, you should make sure that the fold plates are configured properly. To do this, you'll need to consult your folder's instruction manual to find out what the proper settings are and then adjust them accordingly.

Hopefully this troubleshooting guide has helped you fix your paper folding machine. If you're still experiencing problems even after troubleshooting your machine, you should consider calling a professional. He or she should be able to get your machine up and running again. Good luck!
