The wide 12 inch opening is controlled by a photo cell that senses when paper is inserted into the device and begins shredding immediately. An "Easy Switch" powers three functions in one button. The stand-by, stop, and reverse operations each have a backlit symbol, utilized by the device to indicate its status. The automated off kicks in when it senses a full shred bag, an open cabinet, or a paper jam. Reverse is triggered by a jam, helping to unclog the blades by feeding paper back out to the user. An automatic energy saving mode is activated after one hour of inactivity, conserving electricity.

A wide 12 inch paper feed accepts up to 24 sheets at once and shreds them as fast as 30 feet per minute. Staples, paperclips, credit cards and CDs can all go into the device. The blades themselves are made of high quality, hardened steel and are backed by a lifetime warranty. The rest of the unit carries a one year warranty (excluding wearables).

The ¼ inch strips are deposited into a 37 gallon shred bag. The bag sits on a pull-out frame on rollers for easy disposal. A wooden cabinet houses the shred bag and acts as a noise reducer by absorbing sound from the motor, giving you a quieter shredding experience.

The strips created only offer a level 2 security rating. For general office shredding, this keeps most documents secure. Those needing a higher security rating may be interested in this model in a cross cut version, which provides a level 3 security. MBM also offers models with as high as a level 6 security rating.

Handling 24 sheets at 30 feet per minute is an acceptable capacity for most offices. If your office has an extremely high shredding volume, this may prove to be slow for you. MBM does provide faster models with a larger capacity.
