MBM Destroyit 2360 SMC (Super Micro Cut) High Security Paper Shredder

The DestroyIt 2360 SMC High Security Shredder from MBM is a great fit for low to mid volumes of shredding. The DestroyIt 2360 SMC High Security Shredder features a "SPS" (Safety Protection System) package with a electronically controlled, transparent safety shield in the feed opening. It als includes an "Easy Switch" control element that uses color codes and back-lit symbols to indicate operational status. The Destroyit 2360 will automatically stop when your shred bag is full or when the cabinet door is opened. It also has an automatic reverse and stop in case of paper jam. The Destroyit 2360 SMC High Security Shredder has double protection against overheating, automatic start and stop controlled by a photo cell, high quality hardened steel cutting shafts that accept staples, paper clips, and credit cards. All Destroyit Super Micro Cut shredders have a 1 year warranty on their Cut shafts and wheels. All other parts have a 1 year warranty (excluding wearables).

MBM Destroyit 2360 SMC Super Micro Cut Paper Shredder Review

MBM's Destroyit 2360 SMC High Security Paper Shredder is an ideal system for a smaller office with highly classified information. At a level 6 security, this shredder offers the highest protection available. Safety features and high quality craftsmanship work together to provide a safe and reliable shredder that is backed by a one year warranty. Here are some of the 2360 SMC's pros and cons.

Strengths:

The biggest selling point of this device is the extremely high security which it provides. The hardened steel blades convert full size documents into tiny confetti. The pieces left are only 1/32 inch by 3/16 inch and are virtually impossible to reassemble. This meets the standards for NSA and CSS specifications for document destruction and is DOD approved as well. You can rest assured that any confidential information you need to dispose of has been thoroughly obliterated.
The Safety Protection System works to prevent accidental injuries. An electronically run transparent safety shield keeps fingers and other objects from entering the blades. A single multifunction switch toggles between stand-by, stop, and reverse, simplifying operation to one button. The automatic stop also activates when the shred bag is full, if the cabinet is open, or in the event of a paper jam. If a paper jam occurs, the auto reverse sends the paper back out to the user, helping to unclog the blades. An energy saving mechanism powers the machine down to a "sleep" mode after one hour of inactivity, saving you precious electricity.
A powerful, single phase motor drives the shredder. It is double protected from overheating in order to reliably run and save you money on costly repairs. A dustproof housing encloses the gearbox, ensuring the device stays in top working condition.
Items are inserted into a 9.5 inch feed which accepts up to 7 sheets at once and begins shredding automatically. Paper is quickly turned into miniscule particles as fast as 14 feet per minute. The remnants fall into a 9.25 gallon bin fitted with an environmentally friendly reusable plastic bag. The container is housed in a high quality wooden cabinet which acts as a noise reducer.

Weaknesses:

The throat width is only 9.5 inches. Anything much bigger than a standard sheet of paper won't fit right into the feed without being cut in half or folded. For most small business users, this won't present a problem. If your shredding needs include many larger documents, you may want to upgrade to an office shredder with a wider opening.
This machine only handles 5-7 sheets at once at 14 feet per minute. This is excellent for a small, high security shredder. However, offices having a high volume of classified documents to shred will want to invest in a higher capacity shredder.

For a small, high security shredder, the 2360 is an ideal choice. The many automatic and safety features make use a breeze. Steel blades tear your confidential information into tiny particles impossible to reassemble, keeping your information safe. The whole unit is backed by a one year warranty (except wearables).
