A Safety Protection System makes this shredder both safe and convenient to use. A photo cell sensor controls the automatic start and stop functions. When the device senses paper in the machine, the blades begin shredding instantly. A single, multifunction switch operates three status modes, including stand-by, stop, and reverse. The stop function activates when the shred bag is full, the cabinet door is open, or if there is a paper jam. In the case of a paper jam, the automatic reverse spits paper back out to the user, helping to unclog the blades. Finally, an energy saving mode is triggered after one hour of inactivity in an effort to conserve energy.

The 10¼ inch opening can handle up to 10 sheets at one time, including stapled and paper clipped documents as well as credit cards. It is also guarded by a transparent safety shield, preventing fingers and other objects from entering the blades. The hardened steel cutting shafts devour the items as fast as 24 feet per minute, an excellent rate for a cross cut shredder. The blades are backed by a lifetime warranty and powered by a durable single phase motor. The motor is double protected from overheating. A dustproof casing encloses the gear box to prevent corrosion. Together these keep your machine in top working condition.

The cross cutting mechanism converts full size documents into tiny confetti, small enough to earn a level 4 security rating. This ensures any confidential information stays safe.

The shreds are deposited into a 26 gallon shred bag. The disposable bag sits on a pull-out frame for easy discarding. A high quality wooden cabinet houses the shreds and absorbs motor noise for quieter office shredding. Casters add ease of mobility.

A 10.25 inch opening restricts what slides easily into the machine. Many offices will find this width to be completely adequate for all purpose shredding. However, if you experience multiple jams or have a higher quantity of wider documents to shred, you may want to look at some of MBM's larger models with longer throat widths.

This machine doesn't shred CDs. Depending on your needs, this may or may not be an issue. MBM does offer this model in a lower security version that will destroy CDs.

Only 8-10 sheets can be shred at once. With rates up to 24 feet per minute, this won't be a problem for most offices with moderate shredding needs. Businesses with higher shredding volumes may want to invest in a model with a larger capacity.
