DFG TitanCoil Binding Machine Product Review

Overview:

Binding with coils can make your documents look great and it's not hard to do with the right machine. One machine that can really help you out is the DFG TitanCoil. Check out its strengths and weaknesses to determine if this is the device that's right for you.

Features/ Strengths:

The TitanCoil punch up to 20 sheets at a time which is great for a coil binding machine. Since the device has an open throat and disengageable dies, you can work with paper of varying sizes including half-letter, and legal- and letter-sized sheets.
It will be easy to get the holes properly centered because this device has a side margin control. Also, you'll be able to control where the holes are punched thanks to this machine's adjustable punch margin. Adjusting the punch margin setting can help you create documents that are more strongly bound.
This machine has a built-in coil inserter that works with documents that are up to 7/8” thick. The inserter is controlled by a foot pedal so you can keep your hands free during the binding process.
Although the TitanCoil doesn't have a built-in coil crimper, it does come with a free pair of crimping pliers. These pliers are really important because they'll help you trim and crimp the ends of your coils so your documents will be securely bound.
The TitanCoil really isn't that big so you should be able to find a place for it without any problems. It measures 20" (width) x 15" (depth) x 10" (height), so it's able to fit on a variety of work surfaces. There are non-skid feet on the bottom of the device so it will stay put when you're punching and binding your documents.
Finally, this machine comes with a 1-year warranty for your peace of mind.

Limitations/Weaknesses:

If your documents are thicker than 7/8”, you'll need to insert the coils manually. This shouldn't be a problem if you're only binding a couple of books but it might be inconvenient when you have a lot of documents to crank out.
The TitanCoil isn't as sleek and modern-looking as some of the other coil binding machines available. You might want to keep that in mind if you don't want to have an industrial-looking machine in your office.

Recommendation:

Overall, the DFG TitanCoil is a great coil binding machine and it would be a good fit for almost all offices, school, print shops, and so on. The punching capacity is terrific for this type of device, you can adjust the placement of the holes, and even work with different sizes of paper. The built-in coil inserter is convenient and because it's controlled by a foot pedal, you'll have a lot of control over the process. You should keep in mind that you'll need to insert coils manually if your documents are more than 7/8” thick, which might be problematic if you need to bind a lot of books. Nonetheless, the TitanCoil is a great machine. Consider getting it today.
