- All you need to do in order to set up the 2051 smartfold is press the button for the size of paper that you are using and the button for the type of fold that you need to perform. The machine will move the fold plates and adjust the output stacker to the correct settings.

- The Intimus Smartfold 2051 offers fully automatic setup, including the stack wheels. There is no need to loosen screws and manually move the fold plates on this machine. Instead, you simply need to select the size of paper and the fold pattern that you want to produce. The folder will automatically move the two fold plates and the output stacker wheel to the correct positions.
- You can store up to 10 jobs in memory for custom jobs that you do on a regular basis. If you want to do one of the standard folds, but on a non-standard length sheet, the 2051 easily accommodates this need.
- The Intimus 2051 is capable of handling a large variety of paper sizes and thicknesses. In fact, the 2051 is the ideal choice for users who need to fold heavy duty paper stocks. Although it is rated for folding stocks up to 90lb index, it has been tested with 110lb index stock and worked fine. It has a fully adjustable speed setting to allow users to slow the folding speeds down in order to adjust for glossy coated stocks and heavy duty cardstocks. It is also capable of performing a huge variety of folds including the: letter-fold, half-fold, z-fold, baronial fold, double parallel fold, engineering-fold, gate-fold and church-fold. Or you can use it to perform your own custom folds.
- The Intimus Smartfold 2051 has a large feed tray for volume folding applications. It is capable of holding up to 500 sheets of 20lb paper. This helps to increase productivity by reducing the amount of downtime required for loading the machine.
- The Intimus 2051 also offers great features for a production environment including batch counting and the ability to pause after a certain number of pieces to allow for packaging or bundling.
- The 2051 is USB-ready, meaning that as the manufacturer introduces software upgrades, these upgrades can be emailed to the user, transferred to a flash drive and the software can be upgraded by the user. The USB will also be able to be used for diagnosis of problems.
- The 2051 is fast, it has a top speed of 15,000 sheets per hour (8 ½ x 11) and can be slowed down to 3,000 sheets per hour.
Limitations/Weaknesses:
- With all of these great features packed into one machine, it isn’t a huge surprise to discover that the Intimus 2051 is a large machine. It weighs more than 100lbs and is almost two feet wide and four feet long. It is important to make sure that you allocate enough space for the machine on your countertop or production area.
- In testing the Intimus 2051, the fold plates seemed to take quite a while to move into position during the auto setup process. The plates move fairly quickly to the approximate settings and then moves slowly to finish the setup of the folder. In all, it takes between thirty and forty seconds to setup the folder.
- One of the features that the Intimus 2051 does not have as compared to other heavy duty high volume paper folding machines is the ability to score and perforate documents. Other large commercial duty folding equipment can be retrofitted with scoring and perforating wheels. The Intimus 2051 does not have this ability.

- Plus, it offers the ability to use heavy duty paper stocks, large sheets sizes, custom paper folds and is excellent for high volume folding applications.
