In a large office, a central shredder for use by many is often more economical than individual deskside devices. One excellent choice for this is the HSM 225.2cc Cross Cut Shredder. Designed for high performance in a large office, this shredder offers simple operation and quick shredding. With automated use and powerful steel blades, your documents are swiftly diced to pieces. Let's take a closer look at the 225.2cc.

Strengths:

The automated features on this machine control just about everything. After being turned on, the engine sits in standby without consuming energy. As items enter the blades, sensors turn the cutters on as needed, automatically stopping once everything is through. The auto stop also activates when the shred bag is at capacity or removed. In the case of a paper jam, the machine not only stops but the automatic reverse feature releases overfed paper for quick clearing.
The powerful motor is specially adjusted for higher performance and longer use. Thermal protection keeps it from overheating. Dirt stays out, thanks to the closed-tooth wheel drive system, which slows down wear and improves longevity. The enclosed housing reduces the spreading of dust and provides a quieter shredding experience.
A wide 12 inch opening takes in up to 22 sheets, easily handling oversized documents and disorganized stacks. CDs and floppy disks enter through a secondary slot. Everything shreds as fast as 27 feet per minute, impressive for a cross cutting device. Tiny pieces only 1/8" by 1-1/2" in size remain and provide a level three security rating. Generic office shredding as well as most confidential documents stay secure at this level.
Those small particles are collected in a generous 28 gallon reusable waste bag. The bag sits in a pull-out container for easy discarding. The capacity is perfect for reducing the amount of emptying needed while still being manageable.
A 20 year warranty comes with the cutters while everything else carries two year coverage for parts and labor.

Weaknesses:

Weighing 99 pounds, this is a heavy piece of equipment to move around. Casters on the bottom provide added mobility and we think this won't be an issue for most users.
While level three is great for most office shredding, it still only provides a medium security rating. Highly classified and top secret documents should go through a high security device. We suggest you look into this shredder in either a level five or six model.
Although HSM recommends that their cross cut machines be oiled with every bag change, they don't offer a standard automatic oiler. However, they are available as a separate purchase and will save you the hassle. If you prefer an all in one package, check out the MBM Destroyit 2604.

Clearly, this is a perfect system for use in a busy medium to large office. The many automatic functions make this machine convenient and easy to use.
