The HSM 390.3 Level 2 Strip Cut Paper Shredder is a mobile, very high performance model for departments and offices floors. The 390.3 can destroy entire computer listings and shred CDs, store cards and credit cards. This shredder offers a folding safety element, in the security levels 2 and 3 with infeed slot for CDs and floppy disks and a modern electronic controller along with a photoelectric cell for automatic start/stop control. The HSM 390.3 Strip Cut Paper Shredder also includes a rocker switch for on/off and reverse, a stand-by mode with LED indicator and automatic saftey shutoff when the waste container is full or when the door is open. In the event of a paper Jam the HSM 390.3 will automatically stop and conveniently reverse itself. The HSM 390.3 Strip Cut Shredder even comes with a removable, reusable waste container to save money on consumables.

For many departments and office floors, it makes sense to have a single, central shredder to accommodate everyone's needs. The HSM 390.3 Level 2 Strip Cut Professional Paper Shredder handles this beautifully, effortlessly disposing of large workloads. It is built for very high volume performance in businesses with 15-20 or more users. With simple operation and powerful blades for multimedia shredding, the 390.3 is both convenient and efficient. Let's take a closer look.

Strengths:

Once this machine is switched on, use is automated. The motor idles in standby mode without using energy until documents are inserted into the feed. Then a photoelectric sensor detects the items and starts the blades, automatically stopping them after everything is through. If a paper jam occurs, the machine instantly stops and reverses the cutting shafts to release any overfed items. LED indicators offer continuous status updates as the modes change.
The powerful engine can stand up to rigorous, constant use all day long. The motor is thermally protected from overheating. A closed gear transmission keeps dirt out to slow down wear. Together these three features prolong the life of your shredder.
Two versions of this model are available. One creates ¼" strips up to 35 sheets at a time. The other makes 1/8" strips out of 27 sheets at once. Both models offer an extra wide 15.8 inch paper entry and shred as fast as 25 feet per minute. The solid steel cutting shafts can handle staples and paperclips as well as credit cards, CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks.
Thin, unreadable strips fall into a spacious 31 gallon reusable waste bag. The shred bag sits in a pull-out system for easy removal. When the bag is full or the cabinet door is open, an automatic safety shut-off cuts power to the motor until the bag is emptied and the door is securely closed.
HSM provides a two year warranty on parts and labor for this machine. The cutting cylinders carry a 20 year warranty.

Weaknesses:

At 112 pounds, this is a heavy piece of equipment. However, there are casters on the bottom so moving it around shouldn't be too much of a problem.
The strips created provide a level 2 security. This is great for general office shredding of old work orders and memos. But anything confidential should go through a higher security, cross cut device. We recommend the 390.3cc Cross Cut Shredder.
One other thing that would be nice on this machine is segregated waste compartments. This would facilitate paper recycling by keeping the plastic shards separate. This may or may not be important to you. If you prefer this, we suggest a small second shredder for plastic waste or potentially one in another line of shredders that does offer this capability.

As you can see, the HSM 390.3 is an ideal system for a large office. With generous capacities and quick shred speeds, your unwanted items will be gone in no time. This device would work well in a high traffic area for use by 20 or more people. We think this is an excellent choice for a heavy duty, low security shredder.
