A photo cell controlled start and stop senses paper in the feed and begins shredding at once. A transparent safety shield protects the opening from accidental entry of fingers and other objects. The "Easy Switch" allows control of three functions- stand-by, stop, reverse- in one element. The button has backlit icons that display the operative status. The shredder will stop automatically if it detects an open cabinet door, a full shred bag, or a paper jam. Auto reverse helps clear any paper jams that occur by feeding the items back to the user. An energy save mode activates after one hour of inactivity and powers the machine down to a sleep mode to save electricity.

The powerful single phase motor utilizes a strong chain drive and is double protected against overheating. The gearbox is encased in a dustproof enclosure to prevent corrosion. Shreds are collected in a 48 gallon bag housed in a wooden cabinet. The cabinet is outfitted with a pull-out bag frame mounted on rollers for easy disposal. High quality wood acts as a noise reducer by absorbing sound produced by the motor.
