Royal Sovereign RHD-2201 13" Professional Pouch Laminator Review

When you have a pouch laminator in your workplace, document protection is right at your fingertips. One laminator that's ideal for professional use is the Royal Sovereign RHD-2201. This is a commercial-grade device that has some of the most sought-after features a laminator can have, including a cold setting and the ability to accept mounting boards. It is also easy to operate and laminates beautifully. However, it does have a couple of minor flaws that also need to be discussed, such as its inability to turn itself off. That said, here are the pros and cons of this product.

The pros:

The RHD-2201 is a professional-grade laminator that can really make your documents look great. It has six rollers so your work will be laminated perfectly without flaws such as wrinkles.
This machine has a feed opening that's 13 inches wide. You will be able to laminate a wide variety of documents, including legal-sized ones (8.5" x 14"). The RHD-2201 can even handle mounting boards as long as they're no more than 120 mil thick.
This machine laminates very quickly. It can process almost 9 feet of material per minute, which is quite a lot.
The RHD-2201 has both temperature and speed controls. It can laminate on both hot and cold settings so you can even laminate heat-sensitive items including photographs and items that were printed on a ink-jet printer.
Controlling this laminator is easy because it has an LED control panel on the front. This panel allows to control the heat level (or lack thereof), the speed, and more.
Carriers don't need to be used when you laminate with the RHD-2201. This makes the process even easier.
If you experience a problem with this laminator, it's outfitted with a reverse mode so you can remove your document and start all over again.
Each one of these devices is durable thanks to steel housing. This means the machine will undoubtedly last for a long time.

The cons:

Like many of Royal Sovereign's laminators, the RHD-2201 does not have an automatic shut-off feature. Unfortunately, this means this machine could easily overheat if you forget to turn it off.
This is a rather bulky device that will take up a lot of room. Its measurements are 21.9" (width) x 11.1" (height) x 5.7" (depth). Also, it weighs over 40 pounds so be careful when moving it.
The RHD-2201 has a five-minute warm-up time. This isn't a super long time to wait, but it's not short either.
This product is backed with a limited one-year warranty. This isn't a particularly lengthy warranty, unfortunately.

Conclusion:

The Royal Sovereign RHD-2201 is a good choice if your office needs a professional-grade laminator. Not very many of these devices can accept mounting boards, so that definitely makes this product stand out in a crowded marketplace. Just be sure that you're fine with this machine's cons before purchasing it. If you do, you'll make an educated choice that you won't regret regarding your need for document protection.
