Swingline is known as the manufacturer of high-quality staplers but they also happen to make some great paper shredders. One of their machines is the SM20-08, a strip-cut device that just may be the right shredder for your office. Let's take a look at this shredder's strengths and weaknesses so you can make an informed decision....

Strengths:

The SM20-08 has an incredible shredding capacity. It can destroy up to 22 sheets at a time so your documents will be gone in a flash. You can even leave staples and paper clips attached to them. The machine can also shred CD's and credit cards for additional security.
This machine is perfect for shared work areas. It has an 8-gallon waste bin so you and a coworker can share the device. Also, this shredder runs quietly so it won't distract people.
The SM20-08 is engineered to give you jam-free performance. This will help you save a lot of time and it makes shredding hassle-free.
If you want to save energy, the SM20-08 is a great choice. This machine has an eco-friendly energy-saving mode that will kick in after a period of non-use. The shredder will wake up automatically when you're ready to shred again.
This shredder's dimensions are 22� (height) x 17� (width) x 13� (depth) so it's small enough to fit next to or under your desk. The machine is perfect for small work areas.

Limitations:

The SM20-08 has a 9-inch feed opening. While this is perfect for letter- and legal-sized documents, it means you'll either have to cut or fold larger sheets in order to shred them.

The Swingline SM20-08 is a good strip-cut shredder for office use. This machine has some very helpful features such as the 22-page shredding capacity and the ability to shut down in order to save power. It's great that the device can handle stapled documents, CD's, and DVD's. Not only will this help you save time, it gives you additional security. Also, the shredder is small enough to fit under a desk and it comes with great warranty coverage. However, keep in mind that the SM20-08 does have a few weaknesses, namely that it doesn't offer as much security as a cross-cut shredder. Also, both your plastic and paper shreds will be mixed together. If those weaknesses don't bother you, then the SM20-08 might be the perfect shredder for your office.
