Fellowes MS-460Cs Professional Micro-Cut Shredder

These days, most offices need a paper shredder that offers as much document security as possible. Fellowes is one manufacturer that makes machines that have very high security levels, even when the machine is designed for use in smaller offices. One such device is the Fellowes Microshred MS-460CS. It was engineered to be used by one to five people who need to turn paper and other items into tiny shreds. Here are the strengths and weaknesses of this shredder.

Strengths:

The MS-460CS offers a lot of security so it's ideal for destroying classified documents. This is a micro-cut machine capable of reducing a sheet of paper into hundreds of 5/64� x 5/16� particles. Due to this, it has a Level 4 security rating. There is a paper feed opening that's 8.75� wide for both letter- and legal-sized sheets. You can even leave the staples in your documents because this product's blades are strong enough to handle them. Plus, it can handle up to 10 sheets at a time.
In addition to paper, this machine can destroy other items such as CD's, credit cards, and old floppy disks. There is a separate feed opening for these items as well as a 1-gallon waste bin that keeps these types of shreds separate from the paper waste. The bin for the paper shreds has a 6.4-gallon capacity.
The waste bin cabinet has a window so you can keep track of when the bin is getting too full.
This machine can start automatically and it will operate quietly so it doesn't disturb those around you. It's outfitted with a feature called SafeSense that causes operation to cease if your hands are too close to the feed opening.
The MS-460 will stop running if the door to the waste bin is ajar or if the shredder overheats. It will also stop shredding if it gets jammed up. There's a reverse mode that can make clearing the jam easier.
Like many of Fellowes' shredders, the MS-460CS is attractive due to its black and silver styling. The shredder is just over two feet tall and even though it weighs almost 60 pounds, it has casters to make moving it a snap.
This machine's cutting mechanism is covered by a seven-year warranty.

Weaknesses:

The MS-460CS lacks a continuous-duty motor. It can run for up to 12 minutes before you need to let it cool off for 20 minutes.
Ten sheets per pass isn't the highest shredding capacity so this isn't a good machine for heavy-duty use.

The Fellowes Microshred MS-460CS is the machine to get if you need a professional-grade shredder that offers a high level of security. It's great for small offices that have a need for both a lot of security and the ability to destroy CD's and other objects.
