Fellowes Cosmic 2 125 12.5 Inch Throat Pouch Laminator

The Fellowes Cosmic 2 125 Pouch Laminator offers superior results for occasional home or small office laminating projects. With a large throat that can handle materials up 12.5" wide, the Cosmic 2 125 is designed for use with 3mil laminating pouches for documents or photos, however, it will handle up to 5mil thick pouches for index card size or smaller. Advanced temperature control with three different settings assures that you'll have the correct temperature to meet your needs, including cold lamination for heat-sensitive materials. The Fellowes Cosmic 2 also features HeatGuard Technology, keeping the laminator cool to the touch, 5 minute warm-up, and a jam release lever for easy removal or re-centering of stalled pouches. Fellowes Cosmic 2 125 Pouch Laminator Review

Fellowes has kicked off 2012 by releasing a whole slew of terrific pouch laminators. They've even revamped some of their old models, including the Cosmic 95 and 125. The new Cosmic 125 is called the Cosmic 2 125 and it happens to be a great choice for office use. Take a look at its strengths and weaknesses to determine if it's the right machine for your needs:

Strengths:

This version of the Cosmic 2 is better suited for larger documents since its feed opening is 12.5� wide. (The Cosmic 2 95's feed opening is just 9.5� across.) Since this machine has a larger feed opening, you will be able to laminate items such as posters and menus.
If you want a machine with a cold setting, the Cosmic 2 is worth a look. In addition to the cold setting, it also has a couple of heat settings so you can use thermal pouches. The pouches you use can be up to 5 mil thick if you're working with small items. If you're working with larger materials, you can use pouches that are up to 3 mil thick. And if you ever need to deal with a pouch jam, just use the pouch release lever. (It's at the back of the device.)
The Cosmic 2 is equipped with a HeatGuard feature. This feature will keep the machine's exterior cool to reduce your chances of accidentally burning yourself while laminating.
If you don't have a lot of room in your work area, the Cosmic 2 is a good choice. This device is quite compact with dimensions of 4.25� (height) x 22.5� (width) x 6.25� (depth). You won't have any trouble finding the perfect spot for it. Plus, the machine is nicely designed so it will look great in your work area.
Finally, this device is backed by a 2-year warranty which is nice and convenient.

Weaknesses:

The Cosmic 2 isn't a good laminator to get if you want or need to use thicker laminating pouches. Also, the device can't handle mounting boards, so it's not the best choice for heavy-duty laminating.
This device lacks a carrying handle which is a pretty standard feature on most of Fellowes' laminators. Luckily, the machine only weighs 6 pounds, so moving it around isn't too difficult.
Finally, the Cosmic 2 doesn't have adjustable speed settings. However, this shouldn't be too much of a problem since it can only handle 3 and 5 mil pouches.

The Cosmic 2 125 is another solid machine from Fellowes that's suitable for everyday office use. This machine can handle different types of documents, it offers a cold setting, and the HeatGuard feature makes for safe operation. Also, the device is compact, looks great, and it has a terrific two-year warranty. It would be nice if the device was able to handle thicker pouches, but that shouldn't be too problematic for everyday laminating. If the Cosmic 2 seems like the right laminator for your workplace, check it out today.
