Hunting for the right paper shredder can be challenging, simply because there are so many machines on the market. However, you can never go wrong with a machine made by Fellowes. One of the company's newest machines is the Powershred 485Ci, a powerhouse cross-cut device designed for heavy office use. Check out its strengths and weaknesses to see exactly what it can do:

Strengths:

The Powershred 485Ci can shred up to 28 sheets at a time. This is an excellent shredding capacity for a cross-cut machine and the fact that the device has a continuous-duty motor means that you will be able to get rid of your documents in a hurry. Also, the machine has a 16-inch feed opening, so you will be able to get rid of wide-format paper.
This shredder is a good choice if you need a machine with multimedia shredding capabilities. The machine can destroy DVD's, CD's, and credit and debit cards. There is a separate feed opening for plastic items.
The Powershred 485Ci has a paper overfeed indicator right on top of it. If the indicator glows red, you are trying to shred too much. Remove a few sheets and try again. Doing so will prevent paper jams so you can spend your time doing something more productive.
This shredder is equipped with an automatic oiling system so maintenance is as easy as it gets. Also, the machine has SafeSense technology so it becomes disabled when your hands are near the feed opening. This helps make shredding as safe as possible.
If you need a machine that's great for shared use, the Powershred 485Ci should definitely be considered. This device has a 35-gallon waste bin so multiple people can use it. You should place this device near a photocopier or printer so everyone has access to it.
This machine will power down after a few minutes of non-use. This will help you save energy and it reduces wear and rear on the machine's motor.

Overall, the Fellowes Powershred 485Ci is an excellent paper shredder and it's highly recommended for shared work areas. This machine has a lot of user-friendly features such as the automatic oiling system and the ability to shred some multimedia items. Also, this shredder can process an impressive number of sheets per pass so you will be able to get rid of your documents quickly and easily. True, the shredder makes some noise but most office machines do. Be sure to check out the Powershred 485Ci if you need a first-rate paper shredder for your office.
