With our project ready to go, we'll start with the covers. When we line them up, we'll place them face down, being sure we have the correct side into the slot where we want to punch the holes. Using the margin control knob on the left hand side, we'll be sure to have consistency in punching all of our papers. This is a good time to adjust the depth margin control knob. Depending upon your book size, you may want to have your punches closer or further away from the edge of the paper. And the fully disengageable pins allow for punching of papers of all sizes without partially punched holes. The covers are in, make our punch. The handle it strong, sturdy, ergonomic, and made for one or two hands. Continue working through the rest of your project, punching holes in every page. Depending on the strength of the operator, you'll be able to punch up to 20 pages per lift.

Now that our book is punched and ready, we assemble the pages in order. The EcoBind-C has a built-in comb selection guide. It measures document thickness to select the best comb size that you need. The combs go on the top of the machine. Remember to keep the combs faced up and the project faced down; that way the booklet does not come apart. Use the small arm on the right hand side of the machine to open the teeth of the comb and set it just where you need it. Then we take our project and lay it over the teeth of the comb, being sure that all the teeth are filled. Use the lever arm to close the teeth of the comb, and our project is finished. It has a side margin control knob that allows all papers to be punched in the same place. Adjustable depth margin offers the best margin depth for each book size; this way you control how close punches are made the the edge of the paper. There's a built-in comb selection guide, which measures document thickness to select the best comb size option. The combs go on the top of the machine and the small lever on the side is easily accessed to open combs. Fully disengageable pins along the front side above the open throat allows for punching of paper of all sizes without any partially punched holes. The solid, ergonomic punching handle allows for left, right, or two handed punching. The EcoBind-C can punch up to 20 sheets of 20lb paper in one lift; however, 12-15 is more accurate. And the large waste tray is accessible from the front without the need to move the machine around. For around $160, to EcoBind-C is a great buy. For such a sturdy and well-built machine, it's only 25 pounds and is quite stylish and compact. The main weaknesses are that it's a manual punching machine, you still have to do the work yourself. An electric punch is more expensive but a lot easier to use. It also only works with binding edges that are 12 inches or shorter. There it is, the EcoBind-C by Akiles.
