Welcome to MyBinding video. So you want to cover your book or project with a clear cover but you're not sure what size you need. This video is designed to help you understand the thicknesses of clear covers so you can make the most appropriate choice. Here at MyBinding, we produce clear covers that range from 5 mil to 20 mil in thickness.

So what size do you need and what does mil mean? Laminating materials and clear covers are measured in what's called mils. Essentially, it's just a measurement of thickness. This is a 5mil cover and this is a 20mil cover. You can see and hear the difference. Let's have a different look at these. We'll go through each of these paths -- 5 to 20 mils -- and look at each one of them and their properties.

Using the red background, you can see the thickness of this 5-mil cover. It does a good job protecting but is pretty thin and it's least expensive. Next is 7 mil. You'll see that it's thicker, it's a little bit stronger and costs a little more money. These first two are ideal for children and their school work or presentations that require the visibility but not the formality. Moving on to 10 mil, you can really begin to notice the quality and difference in the thickness, and even more so with 15 mil. These thicker covers are especially good with thermal binding and documents you want to preserve and keep around for a long time. Finally, the thickest, toughest and longest-lasting is 20 mil. This really adds a lot of weight to your project. The choice is yours and you should do so according to your project's need.

Most of our covers are heat-resistant for use with thermal binding systems, like UniBind, Fastback or ProBind. Also to note is that we can customize your clear covers. Either at the website or over the phone, you can choose to have your logo added or select from numerous different punch patterns so you don't have to do the punching as well as the binding in your project assembly. So no matter how you bind, MyBinding clearly has you covered. For more demos, reviews and how-tos on this product and many more, check out MyBinding.com.
