This is the X-Acto Vacuum Mount Manual Pencil Sharpener!
In its current state, this sharpener can move freely, so we’ll pull on this little side lever to activate the vacuum and now it is tightly bound to any flat surface.
Insert your pencil in and begin turning—don’t go gently, kick it into gear and turn away! When it spins fairly freely this means your pencil is completely sharp.
Now, after a few minutes the sharpener will probably lose suction, so you may have to retighten it for every use, but hey, this way it’s not screwed in permanently to anything!

Push on the front tab and turn the panel for different sized pencils—one hole is marked for the standard size.
To empty the shavings, twist to the left on the receptacle tray, pull it off and empty in a trash. Put it back on at a slight angle and twist back in place.
