Welcome to MyBinding video. This is a look at the Atom 150, a 15-inch rotary paper trimmer by Fellowes. Slick, solid, and does a great job, the Atom 150 is a great trimmer. With a lock down magnetic fence that can work on both the top and the bottom of the machine and plenty of measuring tools, you’re sure to make your perfect cut every time. With a 15-inch work table, this trimmer can handle some of the largest of projects and it does so with grace and ease. Roll trimmers have a great advantage in being able to cut from both directions, saving you even more time. With the adjustable fence, both position and consistency is attained. The Atom 150 claims to cut through 30 sheets of 20lb paper. So we put it to the test with this 15 stack, doubling that up to make 30, and we could hardly notice the extra effort. And that’s the Atom 150 by Fellowes. For more demos, reviews, and how to’s, check out MyBinding.com.
Fellowes Atom 150 Rotary Paper Trimmer Review
A rotary paper trimmer is a great tool to use when you want to quickly and cleanly cut a small amount of paper. One such device is the Fellowes Atom 150, a trimmer that has a lot of strengths. Here they are, along with a few weaknesses.
The Atom 150 has a cutting length of 15 inches. This is a great length for everyday documents if they're letter-sized (8.5" x 11") or even printed on legal-sized paper (8.5" x 14"). And, of course, it's good for smaller pieces of paper as well as photographs.
This device can cut up to 30 sheets at once. The cutting capacity is based on 20 lb. bond paper, so you may be able to cut more if the sheets you're using are of a thinner stock.
In addition to paper, the Atom 150 is capable of cutting cardstock, foam board, and even some plastics, so this is a good tool to have if you work with a variety of materials.
This trimmer is very safe to use because the heavy-duty blade is encased in a plastic carriage. It's highly unlikely that your fingers will come into contact with the blade so cuts won't be much of a concern.
Using this trimmer is easy because it has an adjustable clamp to keep your documents in place when you trim them. (The edge guides can also be tweaked.) The base has cutting guides printed on it and there's even a protractor that makes cutting on an angle easy. There are rubber feet on the bottom of the trimmer so it will stay in place during use.
The Atom 150 is well-constructed so you can expect to get a lot of use out of it. The stainless steel blade was designed to cut a lot of paper over time and the base is made out of durable metal.
As far as warranty coverage is concerned, the blade is covered for 10 years while all the other parts are covered for 2.
Although the Atom 150 can cut items up to 15 inches long, this may not be a good length if you need to work with larger materials. If that's the case, you should select a different trimmer.
This trimmer has a pretty good cutting capacity, but if you need to trim more sheets at once, a guillotine or a stack cutter would be a better choice.
Overall, the Fellowes Atom 150 is a great rotary paper trimmer for a variety of needs. It would be suitable for use at home, in the office, and even in the classroom. The 15-inch cutting length is perfect for everyday documents and you'll even be able to use it to trim some non-paper materials. It would be good for crafts, working with photographs, and trimming documents for office use. Just keep in mind that it cannot cut more than 30 sheets at a time, which is actually a really good amount for a rotary trimmer. If all of this appeals to you, take a look at the Atom 150 today.
