Formax FD-230 Semi-Automatic Creasing and Perforating Machine

Formax presents the FD 230 Semi-Automatic Creaser/Perforator. This tabletop creaser perforator is ideal for on demand finishing of digital print jobs. Creasing a printed piece allows for easy folding and reduces unsightly cracking at the fold line. In addition, the perforating feature provides for the separation of multiple documents printed on one sheet such as tickets or tear-offs. The FD 230 features a colored touch screen user interface and can be set for 8 different languages. Using the preset folds, the FD 230 automatically measures the paper length and sets the crease or perforation locations which can easily be fine-tuned if needed. Creasing and perforating settings can also be entered directly into the control panel for custom folds. The five preset folds feature a book cover setting which creates crisp professional on demand bindings for books. Up to 15 creases or perforations can be made on a single sheet at a minimum of 2 millimeters apart and up to five job settings can be saved into memory for easy retrieval. The FD 230 has three creasing channels to accommodate a variety of paper weights between 80 and 400 GSM. Simply slide out the creasing bar and rotate it to the correct channel size and then reinsert. To crease, begin by setting the side guides for the paper width. Adjust the guides so that paper fits squarely between them with just enough room on each side to slide easily forward and back. Set the stop on the outfeed tray to let the paper lie flat after it exits. Then set the crease channel bar to the correct channel size based on the paper weight. With the guides and bar set, use the touch screen to set the position of the creases. Select from a programmed job, key in a new job, or use one of the five preset fold settings. To use one of the preset folds, key in the fold type and press the start button. The FD 230 will pull the sheet through and automatically determine the crease position based on the paper length. With the crease size set, press the start button again and the creases will be applied. If a custom fold type is needed, simply key in the position of the creases and press start. Up to 15 creases can be selected from one sheet. If the job is used regularly, it can easily be saved as one of the five programmable jobs. The FD 230 can easily be changed over to a perforator to create tear-offs or for separation of multiple cards printed on one sheet. Begin by removing the crease channel bar and rotate it so the flat side with no channel is facing up and then reinsert it. Next, replace the creasing blade with the included perforating blade. Follow the same steps as when selecting the crease positions. Run the sheets through the FD 230 and in no time, the perforations are applied creating an easy to tear off sheet.
