Ok, going through the steps on the machine, first measure your project on the right. It will fit into a certain shade of gray, to which then determines the size binding you will need—as seen on the left.

Now slip your binding into the front holder.

Turn the machine on, and adjust the edge guide for the type of paper you are punching: a4, oversized, or letter sized. Then insert your pages in, against the guide.

We’re actually going to start with our front and back covers.

At the top are two red and green markers. When both are green, then both sides of your pages are aligned properly and ready to punch.

Push the green button to make the punch. It’s actually punches slower than I thought it would, but it’s definitely effortless still.

With your covers, place them face to face, then place both into the binding with the back cover first—you’ll see why.

Continue punching the rest of your pages, placing them face down into the binding.

Ok, now to close it, you can do it by hand which is why I love ProClick—or use an editing tool to quickly close it - or open it later.

All right! Now flip the back cover over to seal the awkward edge, and now you have a very beautifully bound editable project.

GBC P210E Electric Proclick Binding Machine Review

Overview:

  • The GBC P210e is an electric Proclick binding machine that was released by GBC as part of their 2008 product line.
  • This machine is very similar to the new GBC P110 but includes a medium duty electric binding punch to make punching your documents easier than ever.
  • The P210E includes GBC’s new guide right technology to help eliminate mispunches by ensuring that your documents are perfectly centered and fully inserted into the punch every time.
  • For organizations that want an electric binding punch to use with Proclick but don’t want to spend the money for the automatic inserting features offered by the P3000 this is an excellent choice.

Strengths / Features:

  • The P210E includes a push button activated punching mechanism that is capable of punching up to fifteen sheets of paper at a time. Like the P110 this machine produces a 3:1 pitch hole pattern with large round holes. These round holes make inserting the Proclick spines easy and provide an elegant and contemporary look for your reports and presentations.
  • On the top of the Proclick P210E there are a set of hooks. These hooks are designed to hold your Proclick binding spine while you hang the pages of your document onto the spine. All you need to do is insert your spine onto the hooks and then hang you pages onto the binding element as you punch them. This is a great feature and it helps to making inserting the pages a whole lot easier than trying to do this by hand.
  • The new GBC guide right technology used by this machine helps to ensure that you correctly load and center your pages into the punch every time. This machine has a sliding document tray that allows you to slide your document into place making sure that it is correctly aligned, centered and fully inserted into the punching throat. This helps to reduce mispunches and can save you a lot of money in ruined documents.
  • One of the great things about a Proclick binding system is the ability to edit the finished documents. Every box of GBC Proclick binding spines comes with a convenient zipper tool that is designed for opening and closing your bound presentations. You can use this tool to open your report, add or remove pages and then to rebind the report all without the need for a binding machine.
  • The three to one pitch hole pattern used by this machine is also compatible with special 3:1 pitch spiral coil. This coil is available in more than sixty colors and about twenty different sizes. However, it will have to be inserted by hand and you will need to invest in a pair of oval hole spiral coil crimping pliers. These pliers should crimp the holes sufficiently so that the coil doesn’t spin back off your bound documents.

Weaknesses / Limitations:

  • The sizes and colors of binding supplies available for use with this machine are fairly limited. GBC Proclick binding spines are available in three different sizes: 5/16″ (small), 1/2″ (medium) and 5/8″ (large). Unfortunately there are no supplies in sizes larger than 5/8″. The number of colors that are available for binding with this machine are also limited. Users must choose between Black, Navy Blue, White and Frost spines. Companies who want to bind other sizes and colors with this machine will either need to order specialty 3:1 pitch spiral coil or will need to select a different binding machine.
  • The Proclick P210E is designed for punching letter sized documents on the eleven inch side. Organizations that need a machine to bind half letter sheets, landscape documents, A4 or legal sheet sizes will find that this machine is not a good fit for their needs. The P210 can punch 11″ x 8.5″ sheets and 8.75″ x 11.25″ oversized covers. Attempting to use it to punch any other sizes will more than likely result in frustration.
  • Although this machine has an electric binding punch that can handle up to fifteen sheets of paper it should not be used to punch more than one or two clear covers or plastic sheets at a time. Attempting to punch a stack of clear covers or poly sheets will quite likely ruin the punching motor or dull the dies on the hole punch. Overpunching is not covered under the one year warranty provided by GBC on this machine.

Recommendation:

  • The GBC P210e is one of the least expensive 3:1 pitch electric punching machines available on the market and is ideal for small and medium sized organizations that need to bind documents with Proclick.
  • This machine is easy to use and offers some great features such as the guide right document table and the Proclick spine hanger.
  • However, this machine is not designed for high volume applications, large documents or custom document sizes. Organizations that need these types of features will need to look for a larger more feature rich binding system.

Questions & Answers
Q:
Will this machine work with any other type of binding spine ?
Asked by Jennifer 10 months ago
A:
Although it was primarily designed to work with ProClick spines you can also use a couple of other binding styles with this system. If you purchase 3:1 pitch spiral coil along with a set of crimping pliers you can produce awesome coil bound documents. Or if you have a wire closer available you can also use the machine to bind documents with traditional 3:1 pitch double loop wire.
