First off, we love the casters. This machine is just over 70 pounds, so the casters make it easy to roll around and place in the office. We also like the new and improved eye control system that informs the user of shredder status as well as has the forward and reverse knobs on it, all in one, very nice. The waste bin on the 45 is 11.9 gallons. This is impressive, very helpful in a large office. And the two-by-two system separates paper and non-paper waste for easy disposal, all of it contained in a dust-proof, enclosed cabinet. Shred capacity is 18 sheets of 20lb paper per shred. But you don't have to count, and this part we love. There's a light bar in the throat of the machine that changes from green to yellow to red according to the thickness of paper in your stack. So it's much easier and faster to get a feel of what the machine can handle. And the reverse button works like a charm, it's fast and quick. Simply go forward again and you're on your way. This multifunctional shredder destroys paper, CDs, DVDs, cards, floppy disks, staples, and paper clips. Our price is just under $750, which is an investment, but this thing is a workhorse. Intimus 45CC3 5/32" x 1 13/32" Cross-Cut Shredder Paper Shredder Review
If you are looking for a paper shredder, you should check out machines made by Intimus. This company consistently puts out some of the best shredders on the market and they have already released a number of new machines in 2012. One of them is the 45CC3, which is a great choice for office use. Check out this machine's strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths:
- The 45CC3 is a cross-cut shredder that has a level 3 security rating. When you shred something with this device, it will be turned in particles that measure 5/32" x 1-13/32". This will enable you to protect a variety of information such as bank account numbers, proprietary documents, and so on.
- This shredder has a 10.25-inch feed opening for paper documents. You will be able to shred small documents (receipts, business cards) in addition to larger ones, even if they're printed on legal-sized paper. The machine has a top shredding capacity of 18 sheets, which is terrific for a cross-cut shredder.
- The 45CC3 will easily take care of stapled documents as those that have paper clips attached to them. The shredder can also destroy floppy disks, DVD's, CD's, and credit cards for a total shredding solution. The device even has a 2 x 2 system so that the paper shreds will go in one bin and the plastic bits will go in the other.
- This device has a Dynamic Load Sensor to help you shred just the right amount of sheets and thus, avoid a paper jam. (If the shredder does jam up, the auto reverse mode will come in handy.) Whenever you shred anything, your work area will stay quiet thanks to the machine's Silentec feature that muffles noise.
- You can save power with this machine because it has an EcoLogic energy-saving system. This feature also helps reduce wear and tear on the shredder.
- The 45CC3 is very big thanks to approximate dimensions of 17" x 15" x 26". There are casters on the bottom of the device for easy mobility.
Weaknesses:
- Since this device has a 12-gallon waste bin, it's not really a good choice for departmental use. However, you should be able to share it with a couple of co-workers with no problem.
- The 18-sheet shredding capacity will be problematic for some users. However, most cross-cut shredders have relatively low shredding capacities compared to their strip-cut counterparts.
Overall, the Intimus 45CC3 is a terrific cross-cut shredder and it's perfect for small office use. As you can tell by reading the
