Drytac ML25 Manual Cold Laminator Review

When it comes to laminators there are really only two kinds: hot and cold. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but if you're looking for a cold one, you should consider the Drytac ML25. It's a manual device that's great for a number of uses. Here are the ML25's strengths and weaknesses. Check them out so you can decide if this product is right for your needs.

Strengths:

  • The ML25 is a great laminator to use if you need to process wide documents. It has a 25.5-inch laminating width so you'll be able to laminate a wide variety of items including posters, blueprints, visual aids, and more.

  • This machine is compatible with both laminating film and cold mounting adhesives so you can use it for a number of different applications. The film you use needs to be pressure-sensitive, so be sure to purchase the right supplies. The rollers can have a maximum nip opening of 1 inch (25mm) so you'll also be able to use mounting boards.

  • As previously mentioned, the ML25 is a cold process laminator. Since it lacks the ability to do hot lamination, this is the perfect machine to use if you want to work with thermally sensitive items. You'll be able to process photographs and documents containing water-based ink quickly and easily, without them possibly sustaining heat damage.

  • The ML25 is a laminator that will be really safe to use because you don't need to plug it into the wall. This greatly reduces the risk of fire. Also, since this machine doesn't heat up, there's no way you can burn yourself while using it.

  • This device is very easy to use so you won't have to spend a lot of time reading an instruction manual or doing practice runs.

  • Finally, this product is covered by a one-year warranty.

Weaknesses:

  • This laminator is pretty large because it measures approximately 27" (width) x 25" (depth) x 10" (height). It's going to take up a lot of room on your work surface so be prepared to move some things out of the way.

  • While the lack of a heat setting is generally a good thing, it could be a problem if you really want or need such a feature. If that's the case, you should consider a hot laminator instead of a cold one.

  • Since the ML25 is a manual machine, your hand could get tired if you process a lot of documents or the item you're working with is extremely long.

Conclusion:

The ML25 Manual Cold Laminator from Drytac would be a great choice if you're looking for a simple device with which to process your documents. It offers safe and easy operation, and it can be used with both adhesives and laminating film. While it lacks a hot setting and requires manual operation, this is a good product to get if you need a versatile cold laminator. If that's the case, check out the ML25 today.

Thank you for your question. The ML25 Manual Hand Crank Pressure Sensitive Cold Mount Roll Laminator is primarily designed for mounting small prints to adhesive coated mounting boards. However, we have a lot of users that also use it to apply pressure sensitive overlaminates and do to do cold laminating and other types of mounting. If you do want to use a laminating film with this unit you will need to choose a pressure sensitive laminate that is 25 inches or less in width.

There is a wide variety of different options for mounting photos to boards, depending on you specific needs, to choose from ( link: https://www.mybinding.com/laminating/laminating-film/mounting-supplies/mounting-adhesives.html ) . For a general purpose adhesive. assuming you will not be mounting to plastic the GBC Dura Mount is a good place to start.

The good news is that this unit is incredibly simple and well built. Over time it will wear out but it should last you a long time even under that use. However, with that much volume you may really want to consider a unit that is electric with speed controls, feed wheels and rewind wheels. The additional cost will be easily recouped by the added productivity.
