Standard Horizon's PC-64II 25.1" Paper Cutter Review

Cutting a lot of paper can be quick and easy, but you need to have the right equipment to make it happen. One device that can help you do so is the PC-64II Electric Paper Cutter from Standard Horizon. This machine can quickly cut hundreds of sheets at a time and it's safe to use. Here's an in-depth look at what this device can do.

  • The PC-64II is a good machine to use if you need something with a high cutting capacity. This device can cut a 2.7-inch stack of paper in a brief three seconds. A stack that high contains just over 500 sheets - more than an entire ream of paper. If you tried cutting that many sheets with a regular rotary or guillotine trimmer it would take forever. That alone makes this product worth a look.

  • This machine can cut paper that's up to 25.1" inches wide and it has a maximum cutting depth of 25.1". (The minimum cutting depth is 0.78".) The PC-6411 is great for both large and small sheets.

  • Most paper cutters are quipped with safety features and that's definitely the case with the PC-64II. This device requires two-handed operation - you'll need to manipulate two switches at once to do your cutting. If you lose grip on one of the switches, the device will stop cutting immediately. Also, the blade will immediately return to the "up" position when the switches are released. This drastically reduces the chance of an injury occurring.

  • The PC-64II has an illuminated cutting line so you'll be able to see where your sheets will be cut before you actually engage the blade. This feature helps you get the right cut every time you operate the device.

  • This machine has a a hand-wheel that's used to adjust the position of the backgauge. The backgauge is really precise and can make cuts that are as thin as 0.5 millimeters.

  • The PC-64II is one of the largest electric cutters on the market. It measures 39" (width) x 44.1" (depth) x 50.4" (height) so it requires a good deal of both wall and floor space. This cutter is also extremely heavy - weighs in at 640 pounds - so you'll want to carefully choose a permanent location for it.

  • Finally, this trimmer is backed by a one-year warranty.

Standard Horizon really did a good job with this particular cutter. The PC-64II has just about everything you could want in a trimmer such as an excellent cutting capacity, the ability to handle large pieces of paper, and features that allow for safe operation, such as the automatic blade return. The illuminated cutting line will come in handy when you need to make a really precise cut, as will the backgauge. This is a terrific cutter for a number of different work environments, although its size may be too much for some offices. Overall, the PC-64II is a first-rate electric paper cutter, so make sure you take a look at it today.
