To turn it back top side, simply remove the old punch and replace it with the new punch. Put the lever bar back into place, screw everything back on from the bottom, tighten with the screwdrivers, and you’re on your way. There it is. It’s that simple. Swingline 74400 Accented Heavy-Duty Hole Punch Review

Selecting the right hole punch can be difficult because there are so many of them available. However, if you already know that you want a device that can process a lot of paper at once, you should take a look at the Swingline 74400 Accented Heavy-Duty Hole Punch. This product has a great punching capacity, the ability to produce different hole patterns, and it also looks good. Here's the lowdown on its strengths and weaknesses. Check it out.

Strengths:

  • The 74400 is a heavy-duty punch so you can use it to process a lot of paper at once. It can punch a maximum of 40 sheets so you'll be able to get all your paper punched in a short amount of time.

  • This device has seven different punching heads. The positions of the heads can be adjusted, allowing you to produce different hole patterns (i.e. two- or three-hole). The punching heads will produce holes that are 11/32" which is a bit larger than the holes produced by other punches. This will make your documents easier to read because the pages will turn easily.

  • The 74400 has an adjustable margin depth control and a paper guide. These features will allow you to determine the distance between the edge of the page and the hole. Meanwhile, the paper guide will help you align your documents so they'll be punched properly.

  • This is a pretty good-looking punch that has a chrome handle and wood-grain accents. You can choose one of three wood-grain accents: walnut, oak, and mahogany. As a whole, the 74400 is durably constructed and will withstand frequent use.

  • This product comes with a 100% performance guarantee so you can be confident that this device will provide you with a lot of use. It's also backed by a 90-day warranty.

Weaknesses:

  • This device's punching handle is located on the right side. Thus, it may be difficult for some left-handed people to use this punch.

  • Although this product has seven punching heads, this device can't be used for other binding styles (i.e. plastic comb, wire, etc.). You'll need to have a specialized binding machine if you're into that kind of document finishing.

The Swingline 74400 is one of the best punches available, especially if you need one that can process a lot of paper at once. A 40-sheet punching capacity is excellent and it will really help you get your work done in a flash. It's great that this device has seven adjustable punching heads because you'll be able to get the right hole pattern for all of your documents. The adjustable margin depth control and the paper guide will help you position your paper in the right place for perfect punching. Also, this device looks great and the wood-grain accents make this device eye-catching. The great warranty and 100% performance guarantee also make this product worth a look. Overall, the 74400 is a great hole punch so be sure to put it on your shopping list today.

Questions & Answers

This does have a rubber bottom strip on the bottom of the punch. You also remove this to empty punches. There is actually a video on our page you can watch to learn how to change punching heads but about half way through it gives you a view of the bottom. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Hi Steve, 9/32 is our standard hole size for our punches. The only smaller hole size we have is on our 2 hole punches which have standard 1/4" holes. This punch will do four holes, but you'll need an additional punch head, A7074866. I should also point out the punch is designed for standard size paper, not legal size. Our best option for legal punching is item A7074070.
