Welcome to MyBinding video. Let's have a look at Tamerica's TPW 3200, a 32-punch, 3:1 pitch wire binding machine. This all-in-one unit allows you to manually bind a book of up to 120 sheets. This knob sets a side margin control knob so all punches are consistent throughout your project. With a scrap paper, you'll find everything is centered and just the way we like it. On the left-hand side, there's a depth of margin control switch. Pulling this out allows for a deeper margin or a narrow margin, depending on how thick your project is. When your punches are all set and ready to go, begin with the covers. If you start face down, make sure the whole project is punched face down. Work through your project in batches of 12 sheets of 20-pound paper or less. When you've punched through your whole project, it's time to bind. Assemble everything in order. There's an attached fence on the front of the machine that you can use to drape your wire over so you can thread your paper onto the wire. The small loops face out. A trick in wire binding is to take the back cover and bring it around so that it faces the front cover. That way, the finished product, the seam is hidden within the book. Be careful to drape all the teeth through all the holes of the book and lift it up and out. The C-formation from the wire then goes into the wire closer with the C-shape facing the back end. Set the dial on the left side of the machine according to the size wire you're using. That way, the closer does not close too much. This machine can handle up to 9/16 of an inch for wire size. And you're all done. And that seam is hidden between the back cover and the back page. You can dispose of all the punched chips in the collection tray just below on the left-hand side. That's the TPW 3200 by Tamerica. For more demos, reviews and how-tos, check out MyBinding.com.

Questions & Answers

This machine actually produces small rectangle holes. Normally a 3:1 machine is square holes but there are a few on the market that actually make short rectangle shapes.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPW-3200 3:1 Pitch Twin Loop Wire Punch & Bind Machine would potentially leave a half punch on the binding edge for sizes smaller than 11". You would want to go with a machine that has dies that can be disengaged. The Tamerica TW3100 3:1 Pitch Twin Loop Wire Binding Machine does have that feature and can be found here .

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the 3:1 pitch wire binding machines do not have spines available larger than 9/16. To accomplish this you would need a machine to punch 2:1 pitch (21 holes) You can find those here. You can find the supplies, here.
