… 202, Dynafold 202, and it’s made for 11 x 17. You’ll notice it has three feed rollers on it. It’s got a tray and it backs up to 500 feeds in this tray. When you get it, you’ll have a power cord, which you plug in. You get two plates. This is the smaller of the two and it goes in the back. If you look in the bottom, you’ll see these two notches. These should fit the notch which is in the machine itself. You push it. Pull it down so I know it’s in. It’s got to be in there snug. Okay, now, this is the second plate. Again, see the notches, and give it a shove with my palm. There, that doesn’t come out. Okay? Plate one. Plate two. Paper? Pull this up. This is your paper tray. This is your guide, depending on the size of the paper. I’m gonna do some 11 x 17. Set the tray. Center it. Push the tray down. Push the paper all the way in. You’ve got to switch room if I could put 500 sheets. Set it up. It’s ready to go. Turn the power on. You want the speed control all the way up. This machine isn’t that fast, and this controls it. It’s doing half-folds.

Now, the way I was able to do the half-folds … This paper guide is set … You’ll notice here we’re doing 11 x 17. We got a straight line, so this particular plate is not in use. You want to just loosen this, bring it all the way down. You see this in here. What it does is push. What it pushes is … See this here? You don’t want to mess with this. This is what we call a deflector. When it first comes, just leave it alone. Don’t pull it back. Don’t … Just leave it alone. This is a deflector and this is the only way you’re gonna be able to do half-folds. So you put this plate in. You pull this down. This is hitting that deflector. And, in effect, what it’s doing is deflecting that paper into plate number two and then out. We’re only using one plate. So that’s very important. Don’t play around with that deflector. There we get some half-folds.

Okay, now I’m gonna do some cross-folds. I’m gonna run these stuff back through. Okay, now on this machine, if it doesn’t have paper, it won’t run. And what activates it … Notice I’m pushing down this lever here which is the same thing as my 102. This is what tells the machine that it has paper. Okay, now I just ran these off. It’s 11 x 17 1/2. Now, this adjusts. I can actually put different weights of paper in this. It’s actually spring loaded. There are springs in there that adjust and pull the paper up. Its limitation is that it won’t do the heavier papers. But for business papers, it will do some glossy papers.

And I want to show you a trick in doing glossy papers now that I have this camera. It comes with a device like this. Okay, when you get heavier papers on this machine, even when you want to do cross-folds, there’s a set screw in here and it comes with this Allen wrench. This is tight, okay, so what you want to do is loosen this by pulling back the rubber. Then you want to move it on the cross-bar. You want to move it all the way in and then tighten it up. You’ll find that it’ll do a lot better job on the heavier papers and on the glossier papers. It pulls them in better.

Okay, now when I want a cross-fold … These were half-folded. I move this all the way to the right. This is very important. The spine goes in the middle. Okay, move this all the way to the right. Put your paper in. Press down, underneath. Move this in. Now, the spine of the paper is over here. You notice that? You’ll notice I creased it. Okay, now let’s say I want to do half-folds on these. So I pull this all the way in. We’ll set this for a half-fold. It’s 11 inches so let’s set it a 5 ½. Let’s run it.

Now, let’s say you want to remail it. That’s very popular. You want to tri-fold it. Run these through. I want to tri-fold it. Set this to tri-fold like so, if you will. So look on the table, it’s the third one down. It says plate one. Let’s set it at 5. So we’ll set it at 5 right there. Make sure it’s straight. And plate two, 8 ½ x 11, which is what our size is now ‘cause we folded it 11 x 17. We want to set it at E. So let’s do this at E. That’s E in the circle. Now I’m gonna get it tri-folded. If my tray had been all the way in, then it’ll stack …

Dynafold DE202AF 17″ Desktop Folding Machine Review

A paper folder is a highly convenient office device that is great for preparing bulletins, newsletters, flyers, invoices and correspondence.  The Dynafold DE202AF Desktop Folder is one of these machines designed to make office life smoother.  Built for high performance, the DE202AF is lightweight and easy to operate.  Its efficiency will increase productivity, thereby saving you time and money; eventually this device will pay for itself.  Here is a more detailed look at the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • >Designed for table top use, this machine is compact enough to store on a large desk.  Though it weighs about 42 pounds, it could potentially be moved around to various locations fairly easily for shared use.
  • This folder utilizes an automatic friction feed system to guide individual sheets into the machine for folding.  It self adjusts to varying paper thickness ranging from 16lb bond to 40lb bond.  A simple start/stop switch controls folding; stop is automatically activated when all items are through the machine.  Neatly folded sheets are collected in a stacking table with a maximum capacity of 500 sheets.
  • Up to 500 sheets can sit in the hopper at once.  Papers can range in size from 3.5″ x 5″ to 11″ x 17″.  Simple adjustments need to be made for various paper sizes; there is a guide on the trays to help you handle this.  When the fold plates are running at their fastest, 5000 pieces can be created in one hour.  This rate is determined with letter size copy paper and may vary depending on paper size and weight.
  • If a paper jam occurs that can’t be cleared by removing the items, the two trays easily slide out so you can have access to the fold rollers and other parts.
  • Six fold styles can be made with the manually adjustable plates.  They include single fold, double parallel, fold out, “C” fold, “Z” fold, and a cross fold.  This machine also has the ability to produce custom folds by manipulating plate placement.
  • Dynafold offers a 90 day warranty on this product.

Cons:

  • The fold plates are manually adjusted.  For use with a single fold style or infrequent changes, this will work just fine.  But constant switching between folds is tedious and often difficult.  If you foresee yourself needing to frequently change which fold is made, you should  think about upgrading to the PF-330, which will move the plates around automatically.
  • While 5000 pieces per hour is an excellent folding rate, consistent use of this machine at that rate will wear it out quickly.  We suggest looking into a heavier duty, higher rated folder if you think you will needs that much folding every day.

As you can see, this is a great machine for small office use.  While it would be nice if it could fold heavier materials, it will work well for most office applications.  Easy operation as well as decent capacities and speeds make it a good choice for churches, schools, and other small businesses.  The Dynafold DE202AF Desktop Folding Machine is an excellent choice for your next paper folder.
