When creating a hardcover book with your Fastbind Perfect Binder you will need the hardcover nipping bar and a paper guide.
The bar is labeled with an "H" so you know it is for hardcovers. You will also have to screw in the paper guide where you would otherwise use the softcover guide.
When making a book, insert the cover against the guide. Then lift the guide, and slide the cover under, so it is then rests slightly on the cover. Doing this provides just enough space to keep your pages inside the cover, and not on the edge.
