Welcome to MyBinding video. Today we look at GBC’s Zipbind spines. What are they and how do they work? All plastic comb binding systems punch a 19-hole punch pattern in a standard 11-inch length of paper. With this punch pattern you can use plastic combs. Or you could use Zipbinds with the same pitch. The look is rounder, simpler, and, in many ways, more stylish. In fact, with a 19-hole punch pattern, there are at least three different options: Zipbinds, plastic comb binds, and Spiral-O 19-loop wire binds.
On a table, or mounted to a comb opener rack, the Zipbind spine is fastened into place and then the project draped over the teeth. And then a small hand tool is used to close the seam of the spine. Simply dragged all the way along the spine once or twice, it closes all the teeth. Part of Zipbind’s unique look is that the seam is hidden between the back page and the back cover of the book. That way all that you can see from the outside are the rounds. Similar to plastic combs, Zipbinds are very easy to edit. The little arm on the same hand tool is inserted inside the spine and dragged all the way along, unlocking the teeth. Then remove the spine and edit your document as necessary. Then bind again.
There it is, Zipbinds, one of the many options for great book binding. For more demos, reviews, and how tos on this product and many more, check out MyBinding.com.
