This GBC Discovery 3100 Document Camera video will walk you through basic setup and operation to teach you a better way to show and tell. The Discovery 3100 comes with everything you need to get started; HDMI and VGA cables, a remote control, power cord, and microscope adapter. Set up of your discovery is easy; begin by plugging your power cord into the side of the camera and the power plug into an outlet. An orange LED light will confirm that power is working. Make sure that the video out is switched to NTSC for operation in the US; connect one end of the HDMI or VGA cable in your Discovery 3100 and one end into the projector or monitor. Make sure to use the cable that corresponds with your TV monitor or projector. Press and hold the Power button for two seconds. The light will change from orange to blue. A blue light by the output selector switch indicates whether you are operating in HDMI or VGA. Now, connect the computer to the document camera using VGA or HDMI. Plug one end of the cable into the computer and the other end into the document camera's HDMI or VGA input. Last, to ensure you can save to your computer, plug the USB cord into both the computer and the document camera. Now, let's project. Place the object to project under the lens and adjust the neck accordingly. Use the flip button to change the image orientation or adjust lens. Using either the keypad or the remote control, press the AutoFocus button to sharpen the resolution. Zoom in by pushing the Plus button on the control panel or remote. Zoom up to 17 times. Push the Minus button to zoom out. Make the image brighter using the brightness button on the remote. Capture a picture of what you're showing easily. The camera's internal memory will store up to 115 megabytes or use an SD card up to 32 gigabytes of additional storage capacity. to take the picture just push the snap button on the control panel or remote. To display a picture, use the Playback button on the remote. It's a perfect way to continue, repeat or build on a lesson. To pull up the picture on the PC, push Menu, choose USB Connect, then select disk. When you are finished, go back to USB Mode. Toggling between your computer and the camera is also easy with the Discovery 3100. Push the Pass-through button on the control panel, your computer screen should now project. Within the Menu, adjust the brightness of the displayed image by adjusting Brightness using the right-left buttons. Scroll down the menu to see more features. From Effects to Change Resolution including a WB to adjust the White Balance, and the Quick Zoom function which allows you to select the default Quick Zoom magnification. Choose between 2x - 4x. Macro focus adjusts the resolution more finely for close-up shots or when displaying images in a microscope. The Image Size menu lets you quickly change the default resolution for images you are storing. The Capture button will change how the camera button functions. You can choose to capture video or pictures. The Settings menu is filled with settings to enhance your experience including Clock, Beat Volume, Language and more. Now, let's record a video. Due to the large size of video files, we first recommend making sure your inserted SD card has ample storage. Start by setting your Capture function in the Menu to video, then press the Record button on the Control Panel. When finished, press the Snap button.
