It’s a solid and rugged workhorse with plenty of measurements on the front to help you get the exact punch that you need for your project. The side margin control knob locks into place your setting for your paper so that all punches are consistent throughout your entire project. Push button function on the front and the punch is over. The interchangeable punch dies for this machine are oversized to accommodate large projects. Every punch pin on every die is fully disengageable. Simply remove the punch die, release the carriage that’s on the top and remove any pin you may need. Everything is spring loaded and very smooth in its action so removal and repositioning is very simple. When you’re all set, slide the die back into place, make sure it’s all the way in and continue punching. The MP2500ix has both a push button on the top of the machine as well as a foot pedal that connects to the back of the machine and can be operated by foot or by hand, adding more flexibility for easier work. Depending upon the style and size of dies that you purchased with the machine, it can punch up to 17 to 29 sheets of 20-pound paper in a single punch. And that is GBC’s MP2500ix. At this point, you can also remove any of the disengageable die pins. Every die has every pin that’s disengageable. Close everything back up and slide it back into the machine. It could be the same die. It could be a whole new different die. They’re all the same, they work the same way and fit in the same exact way. The only difference between the dies is the individual punch capacity, ranging from 17 to 29 sheets of 20-pound paper in a single lift. And that’s die changing on the 2500ix. Speaker 1: In today’s competitive environment, businesses produce hundreds of important documents every day. Documents vary in form and function and can be changed at a minute’s notice. Having different binding styles to choose from ensures your documents are always packaged the right way every time. Having this flexibility requires punching many different binding styles. Traditionally, this has meant buying a separate punch for each binding style – a costly proposition for growing businesses today. With all of that in mind, GBC introduces the MP2500 IX, the one solution for all your punching needs. The MP2500 IX uses interchangeable die sets to deliver the exceptional productivity you require. It is so versatile that anyone can use it. This system is sure to satisfy your punching needs, from copy paper to special cover stocks, including clear covers and index tabs. The modular design of the MP2500 IX makes the punch even more versatile. The level horizontal service allows any GBC modular bind station to be stacked on top. They mate so perfectly you may not even realize they are two separate systems. One person can punch and immediately bind their document in two easy steps. During crunch times when your job is urgent, separate the bind station from the punch so two people can punch and bind simultaneously for increased productivity. Loaded with special features, the MP2500 IX allows even inexperienced users to easily operate the punch. Three important LEDs provide intuitive interface for the user. The power LED illuminates in green indicating the punch is on. A yellow is used to indicate when the die set is not properly installed. A second yellow LED alerts users when the chip tray is full. Simple controls further enhance the MP2500 IX’s ease of use. Convenient alignment marks on the deck label show the correct edge guide placements for different punching styles and size documents. The machine’s adjustable edge guide helps you quickly and accurately align paper in the punch throat. This ensures that finished documents are properly punched, regardless of the chosen punching pattern. With interchangeable die punches, knowing what pins to pull for different size documents can be challenging. All MP2500 IX die sets feature GBC’s pull pin labels. These labels provide a quick guide for the user on what pins to pull for most standard document sizes. Maintenance is also very easy with the MP2500 IX since there is no need to manually oil the die sets or the exposed parts of the machine. A key to productivity is outstanding punching capacity. The MP2500 IX is rated to punch up to 29 sheets per lift for a maximum of 16,000 sheets per hour, providing continuous, reliable performance and optimum punching quality. With this kind of productivity, you can rest assured your punching jobs will get done on time. Automatic jam stopper electronics help minimize downtime due to punching too much paper at one time. Also contributing to productivity is the speed of the punching mechanism. The MP2500 IX will punch as fast as the operator can load paper. Complementing this tremendous productivity of the MP2500 IX is its quiet operation. Now you have the ability to punch your documents without causing any disruptions, especially in office environments. Punching capacity and speed combined make the MP2500 IX one of the best punching systems in its class. Die sets slide in and out easily and quickly, requiring no tools or cumbersome locking levers. Die sets install in a snap. A light push is all that’s needed to secure the die in place. A gentle pull disengages the internal retention mechanism, allowing effortless removal. Even inexperienced users can change die sets in less than five seconds. What’s more, GBC’s unique pin retainer keeps pins securely in place when die sets are not in the system even if the die set is turned upside down. This eliminates problems with loose pins falling out of the dies. Dual punching controls let users select either a palm switch or foot pedal as their preferred punching method. The palm switch is positioned to activate the punching as the lift of paper is dropped into the punching trough. This drop and punch design speeds up your productivity. Or you may choose to use the foot pedal for hands-free operation. The MP2500 IX also makes quick work of punching non-standard sizes of documents. Die sets feature easily accessible punch pins that can be quickly removed and replaced. This gives you the versatility to punch a variety of documents, from 4 inches or 10 cm wide to 12 inches or 30 cm wide, in one step. The open punch stroke can also punch larger documents in two passes. GBC knows that you expect punches to be rugged and durable. That’s why we build the MP2500 IX and the die sets with the most reliable materials. The solid aluminum die cast base provides a strong foundation for the system, supporting rigorous punching motion. The MP2500 IX’s all-metal construction results in unbeatable durability and long life. The powerful motor and drivetrain efficiently transmit power to the punching mechanism for continuous operation. Die set pins are made of durable high-carbon steel and are precision ground to ensure the highest quality punched hole. Greater durability equates to fewer breakdowns and more reliability. In the unlikely event that a problem does occur, you can count on GBC’s network of highly trained service technicians to quickly get your machine back up and running. GBC’s commitment to the safety of you and your employees has led us to have our systems tested by the world’s leading safety agencies. You can rest assured that the MP2500 IX fully complies with UL and Canadian standard requirements as certified by CSA. The international version of the MP2500 IX has full safety licensing from TUV product service and carries the CE mark as well. Speaker 2: Hi, my name is Mark LaCroix. I’m the production supervisor here at K & M Printing here in Schaumburg, Illinois. We’re a medium-sized commercial printer dealing with sheet-fed operation. Our main objective here is to give our customers very rapid turnaround as well as ultra-high quality printing. What this means is that we may change a die set or a machine over five-six times a day for different operations so this requires a machine that’s easy to set up, easy to changeover, easy to use and quick. In my experience, the MP2500 IX has a capability of punching nearly twice as much as the other punches that I have, including a Rhin-O Punch. This also adds to greater productivity. It’s really a powerful punch. It greatly exceeds any other punch that I’ve tried in the past. The one feature that I find to be especially useful is the vertical throat right here. What that does is that allows the pages to fall in via gravity instead of by you jogging the pages in and physically putting them in the throat. What this means is that there’s less chance for a mispunch, less chances for mistakes and, therefore, greater productivity and less waste. Some of the features that I like on the MP2500 IX are the fact that all the markings on the front help you to set up the machine quickly and easily. Another nice tool is that there’s a chip tray indicator that tells you when the chip tray is full because many machines don’t have that, and what happens then is you start to jam your dies. That’s expensive and time-consuming to clear those jams. Another thing that I find is really nice in the MP2500 IX is that the die sets are all individually marked and color coded so just at a quick glance, you can see if it’s a 3:1, a 4:1, a three-hole die. It’s very simple. You don’t have to guess or be a rocket scientist to figure out what kind of die you’re using. And also the fact that you don’t have to have any tools to insert those die sets. That’s probably the biggest feature that I like the most. That’s because, most of the time as most people know, in a business setting, tools just don’t hang around for very long. They usually get lost, taken, just disappear. If you can have a machine that doesn’t use any tools, like this one, it really makes it a lot easier for you. I find that this machine is especially easy on the maintenance end because there is very little maintenance at all. All you have to do is put the die in and go. Comparatively, our other machines, I have to oil the die sets fairly frequently to keep them in good working order. This machine is pretty much self-sufficient. It’s a self-lubricating machine so you have nothing to worry about; less chance for wear and tear and, in the end, greater productivity. I found that GBC machines are very reliable, but when there is a problem with them, I find that the service men are very fast and reliable. They arrive within two to three hours and are usually able to fix the problem very rapidly. I buy a lot of my products, my spines, my coils, a lot of my covers from GBC and they always have everything in stock that I need. Usually, very little wait. I usually get it the very next day, which is great in my line of business because, like I said before, we are a very quick turnaround shop. We have usually one to two day turnarounds so we require someone who’s going to be there to back us up a hundred percent day in-day out with our daily routine.
