Welcome to MyBinding video. This is a demonstration video of the GBC P110, a manual ProClick binding machine. Designed for the small office, the ProClick P110 binding system is a great little machine. Let’s watch it in action step-by-step.

Set the punch tray according to letter size or oversize documents. Starting with the covers, place them into the throat of the machine, align it, and punch down with the lever. Continue to punch the rest of the pages of your entire project. All set, you’re ready for the binding stage.

Following the diagram on the front of the machine, place the ProClick spine over the nibs on the top of the machine. The process takes a little getting used to; make sure that the spine is completely under each of the metal nibs. Before you thread your book on the spine, place the back page over the on front so the back of the back faces the front of the front. This will hide the seam of the spine within the book in the finished product. Thread the book over the teeth of the spine. Now it’s time to close the spine with a click. By gripping and squeezing the narrow end of the spine closer, run it along the spine and all the teeth will close. Sometimes this is much easier done just on a flat surface, like a table. Repeat if necessary, and your book is complete. And the seam of your spine is hidden between the back page and the back cover.

Editing a finished book with a ProClick spine is very easy. Let’s say at the last minute you need to add a page. Punch holes into the page or pages that you’ll be adding to your book. The little plastic hand spine closer is also the spine opener. Simply insert the triangular end into the ProClick spine and run it straight down. It will open up. You then can remove the back cover, remove the spine, place the new pages into the book, reassemble, and repeat the closing process.

And that’s it. It really is that simple with the GBC ProClick P110. And for more demos and reviews of this product and many more, check out MyBinding.com.

Welcome to MyBinding video. The is a product review of the GBC ProClick P110, a manual ProClick binding machine. GBC ProClick P110 binding system is an excellent choice for small offices who need to bind documents, reports, or presentations on a monthly basis. It's quick, simple, and flexible. Let's watch it in action and review its features.

Of first note, it's an all in one system. It punches, aligns, binds, and even edits great looking presentations. But this is the first limitation. The P110 can only bind on the 11 inch side. It can only punch holes in 11 inch or oversize documents. Anything smaller or larger you can't do on this machine. In terms of punch capacity, the P110 is rated at 15 sheets of 20lb paper per lift. That's pretty good. The 15 sheets were pretty difficult; really you'll be doing ten or twelve. But that's pretty good for a manual punch. However, it's still a manual punch. As with all different kinds of spines, getting used to the ProClick spine is sometimes difficult. Loading them onto the P110 was a little tricky. We got used to it, but it's kind of annoying. We really preferred the P75 where you can slide the spine right into the machine. Draping your project over the teeth of the comb is a bit tricky, but you get used to it. Likewise, the closer tool also takes some getting used to. It works well but just learning how to run it over the machine can be annoying at first. If you do it on the table, we found that is actually a little easier to do. Again we reference the P75 because the quick shut there is just the turn of a knob. However, any finished product with a ProClick spine is a great looking project. And we love just how easy it is to edit. The editing tool works like a charm, zips right up the spine, everything opens. Take apart your project, and add or subtract any pages you might need. Put it back together, close it up again, reusing the same spine and you're all set. The punch waste tray is ample in size and easily accessed from the right side of the machine. So there it is. And for under $270 the P110 manual ProClick is a great machine. For more demos and reviews of this product and many more, check out MyBinding.com.

GBC P110 Manual Proclick Binding Machine Review

Overview:

  • The GBC P110 is a manual Proclick binding machine that was released by GBC as part of their 2008 line of products.
  • This machine is designed for small and medium sized offices that are looking to bind a few documents per day using the Proclick binding style.
  • The P110 incorporates GBC's new guide right technology to help you ensure that the holes are perfectly centered on your documents with every punch.
  • This machine will soon replace the older GBC P200 Proclick binding machine.

Strengths / Features:

  • The P110 includes a medium duty manual punch that is capable of punching up to fifteen sheets of twenty pound paper at a time. It punches nice large round shaped holes that help to provide a stylish look for your documents and make using this machine with Proclick spines fairly easy. The punching handle on this machine is ergonomically designed and is great for both left and right handed individuals.
  • This machine uses GBC's new guide right technology. This technology uses a sliding document tray to help you square up your documents and ensure that they are fully loaded into the punch. Using the guide right system should help eliminate costly mispunches and makes it unnecessary to set up the machine for punching your documents or covers. The system will even center oversize covers for punching.
  • On the top of the P110 there is a set of hooks that are designed to hold your Proclick spines while you are working on binding your documents. You simply use the hooks to hold your Proclick spine in place and hang the pages of your document on the spine as you finish punching them. This is a great feature and it definitely makes binding documents with Proclick a lot easier.
  • Documents bound with this binding system are designed to quickly and easily be edited. Each box of Proclick binding spines includes a convenient zipper tool to help you open and close the spines of your documents. This makes this binding style ideal for sales representatives and mobile personnel that may need to edit their documents in the field at a moments notice.

Weaknesses / Limitations:

  • The sizes of documents that can be bound with Proclick are fairly limited. In fact, Proclick spines are only available in three sizes and four colors. They come in small (5/16"), medium (1/2") and large (5/8"). As for colors, you can choose from Black, Navy Blue, White and Frost. If these sizes and colors don't fit your needs it is always possible to use this machine with 3:1 pitch spiral coil which comes in over sixty colors and almost twenty sizes. However, 3:1 pitch spiral coil needs to be special ordered and in order to use it effectively with this system you will also need to invest in a pair of spiral coil crimping pliers.
  • This machine is designed for binding letter sized documents on the 11" side. Currently that is the only way that Proclick binding spines are available. Users who need to bind landscape documents, half letter sized paper or longer sheet sizes will find that this machine will not meet their needs. The P110 can punch 8.5" x 11" sheets and oversized covers (8.75" x 11.25"). Using it to punch any other sizes is not recommended.
  • Although the punching capacity of this machine is decent, it is important to remember that the P110 is still a manual binding punch. It is really ideal for small offices and home offices that need to bind up to twenty documents per week. Larger volume users will probably benefit considerably from the electric punching mechanism that is offered by the P210E.

Recommendation:

  • The New GBC P110 is an excellent machine for a small office or home office that needs to bind a few documents per day.
  • It offers a decent quality manual punch, a Proclick spine holder and the new GBC guide right technology to help prevent mispunches.
  • However, before your organization purchases this machine it is important to make sure that the Proclick binding style will be able to bind the sizes and thicknesses that you need.
  • If you do decide that Proclick is a good option for you then this machine will probably be a great fit within your organization.

Questions & Answers

This machine would not be suitable for 1/2 size books, as it does not have disengageable dies, which allow you to pull the pin at the bottom of the book, so you don't get a half hole punched. You could opt for a wire binding machine (3:1 Pitch) with disengageable dies, as it would have the same punching pattern as the proclick.

Although it was primarily designed to work with ProClick spines you can also use a couple of other binding styles with this system. If you purchase 3:1 pitch spiral coil along with a set of crimping pliers you can produce awesome coil bound documents. Or if you have a wire closer available you can also use the machine to bind documents with traditional 3:1 pitch double loop wire.
