For a medium size office with five or more users, the GBC Shredmaster GLX2030 is a great system. Packed with automatic features and Jam Free technology, this device is easy to use and functional. The blades quickly dice up information in a variety of forms. Backed by warranty, this durable machine is built to last for years to come. Let's take a closer look.

Strengths:

• Use begins automatically as you slide documents into the feed slot; you don't even have to worry about turning the machine on. When the items have finished shredding, the blades stop running on cue. This helps to avoid extra wear and tear. After a few minutes of idling, the motor powers down to an energy save mode to conserve electricity. A lit control panel keeps the user aware of the machine's operational status at all times.

• Jam Free technology helps to prevent jams from happening. Too much paper in the feed triggers a red warning light and cuts power from the blades. Simply remove excess material until the light glows green and the blades begin shredding again. If the cutting shafts do get clogged, the automatic reverse helps to clear them by sending the items back out to the user.

• The continuous duty motor offers all day shredding without frequent cool down periods. It also provides quiet operation, running about 10 decibels lower than its competition. That is approximately the difference between a normal conversation and a vacuum cleaner.

Weaknesses:

• The small remnants only earn a level three security rating. While this is fine for most confidential information, highly classified material should go through a high security device. We recommend the GLHS713 for this purpose.

• Although it can destroy CDs and DVDs, this machine isn't a true multimedia shredder because it doesn't accommodate floppy disks. Depending on your needs, this may or may not be an issue for you.
