Congratulations! You’re in the lucrative wide-format game. That means you know you have opportunities to grow your business by offering popular wide-format inkjet prints. How will your customers use those wide-format prints? Will they become signs, point-of-purchase displays, backlit displays, banners, floor graphics, window graphics? Who will help your customers protect and enhance those images? You may never know if they decide to take the whole job to a print shop that offers the fastest turnaround for both printing and laminating. Imagine how quickly you’ll meet your customers’ needs if you have lamination capabilities in your shop. By laminating in house, you will reap the rewards of both printing and finishing. You also earn customer loyalty for providing faster service than shops that have to send prints out to be laminated. And laminating in house also keeps you in control of job quality. With GBC, getting into the game has never been easier or more cost-effective. GBC brings you a practical solution – a laminating system that will allow you to finish almost any application yet is both easy to operate and affordable. Meet the 1200 Series. Easy to set up, easy to use, the 1200 Series Wide Format Finishing Systems from GBC are designed to deliver professional results without the need for professional operators. The 1264 WF can handle film and mounting adhesives up to 61 inches wide and the 1244 WF can handle film and mounting adhesives up to 43 inches wide, perfect for small to medium volume shops. Either model can turn your inkjet prints into a gold mine of additional business. Whichever you choose, a 1200 Series Laminator makes just about any application possible even without advanced training. From beginning to end, it’s designed for the first time user who wants to perform like a pro.

The 1264 and 1244 are versatile. They will run endless applications for both thermal and pressure-sensitive films. For best results, we recommend GBC’s Octiva thermal films and Arctic pressure-sensitive films. And unlike other laminators in their class, the 1264 and 1244 can also accommodate AccuShield, GBC’s innovative dry-transfer coating for vinyl. Film loading is easy on the 1264 and 1244. The new operator-friendly swing-out shafts alleviate the strain of loading heavy rolls and reduce the liability of injury. Almost anyone can load film without assistance. And the unique core chuck design helps quickly secure the film and keep it firmly in place. The feed tray is removable for easy access to the rolls when threading the film. Once the film is loaded, just set the controls and get ready to feed your prints. All settings are controlled by a simple LCD information center located on the front of the machine. From the digital touchpad, you can electronically control temperature and speed based on the application and film. Once your job settings are entered, they can be saved in memory to reduce setup time in the future and to ensure consistency from job to job and operator to operator. The 1200 Series offers maximum flexibility thanks to independently controlled infrared heated rollers. As the system heats up, you can check the temperature with the measure button. When the actual temperature equals the temperature you set, the ready indicator replaces the wait indicator. This ensures jobs will be run at the proper heat setting. A removable pressure plate keeps prints flat as they are fed into the rollers. The laminator’s plexiglass safety shield keeps fingers and loose objects from the rollers while still allowing the operator to accurately guide the print into the nip. The soft surfaces of the silicone rubber rollers prevent scratches in the film, help keep adhesive from sticking and are easy to clean. After leaving the heated rollers, the laminated print moves past a cooling fan and idler bar before entering the pull rollers. Used in conjunction with the tension control, this process ensures consistently flat output, regardless of the application. Adjustments to film tension can be made quickly thanks to conveniently located tension control knobs.

The 1264 and 1244 both feature a rewind shaft to accommodate the release liner on popular pressure-sensitive applications, like adhesive window graphics and trade show graphics. The rewind can also be used to take up the carrier after applying AccuShield, an ultrathin protective coating. And once the laminated print exits the pull rollers, you can quickly remove it by engaging the inline trimmer at the back of the machine. Roller gap adjustments for thicker media, like mounting boards, are quick and easy using the notched calibrations on the side of the machine. Both systems are UL listed, meeting applicable safety standards and offer dependable operation backed by the GBC nationwide technical service network. Emergency stops are located conveniently on either side of the unit for operator safety and control. And for added safety and energy savings, standby and sleep modes power down the machine between jobs. Though the 1200 Series finishing systems operate with entry-level ease, they are not lightweights when it comes to handling wide format applications. And supported on steel frames with casters, they roll easily out of the way when not in use. So there you have it, advanced capabilities without advanced training or a large investment.

The 1200 Series Wide Format Finishing Systems deliver the best of all worlds – simplicity, versatility, reliable performance, quality output and profitability. The 1264 and 1244 laminators outperform all other finishing systems in their class and they’ll quickly pay for themselves with all the new revenue they generate. When you add a wide format 1200 Series Finishing System to your team, you have the winning solution. Let a 1264 or 1244 finish the job you started with your printer and watch it bring in the profits. GBC Titan 1264 Wide-Format Laminator Review

When it comes to making laminators, GBC excels at it, even with their wide-format devices. One such machine is the Titan 1264, a laminator that's great for large jobs. Check out this product's strengths and weaknesses to find out if it's right for you.

Strengths:

  • The first thing you need to know about the 1264 is that it's capable of handling very large items. This device can process work that's up to 61 inches wide, making it one of the largest roll laminators available. Since it's so big you'll be able to finish all your large projects such as maps, posters, and so on.

  • The 1264 has both hot and cold settings so you'll be able to use thermal and pressure-sensitive film with it. (Keep in mind that the thermal film can be up to 61" wide while the pressure-sensitive stuff can be 63" across.) Since this machine can do cold lamination, you can laminate just about anything, including items that have been printed with water-based inks. You can also use mounting boards as long as they're no more than 0.5" thick.

  • All of your documents will look great once they've been laminated because this device has silicone rollers. Also, there are adjustable temperature and speed settings so it's easy to select the right setting depending on the film you're using. If there are particular settings that you use repeatedly, you can program up to 9 of them into the machine's memory.

  • Although the 1264 is large, it's actually pretty easy to use. There's an LCD screen that you use when selecting your settings so you can see what's going on.

  • The 1264 can process a 10-foot-long document in just one minute when it's on the highest speed setting. This is great because it will enable you to get things done quickly.

  • Finally, this laminator comes with a year-long warranty on parts while labor is covered for 90 days.

Weaknesses:

  • The 1264 is very large so it's not the best choice if your work area is tiny. This device measures 79" (width) x 50" (height) x 25" (depth) so you'll need at least 7 feet of wall space for it. Also, this laminator weighs over 300 pounds so it will be difficult to move it out of the way.

  • The rolls of film you use with this device need to have a 3" core. That limits the types of film you can use. Also, GBC Arctic and Octiva films are recommended for use with this product.

As you can see, the GBC Titan 1264 has many more strengths than weaknesses and as such, it would be a terrific choice if you need a wide-format laminator. This device can handle all of your large documents and it will laminate them quickly. You'll find this machine is easy to use even though it's incredibly large. Although this device can only handle films with 3-inch cores, the 1264 is the laminator to get, so take a look at it today.
