The 105.2 shredder includes a modern electronic controller, photoelectric cell for automatic start/stop control, an on/off switch with integrated reversing function and a stand-by mode with LED indicator. The HSM 105.3 Level 5 High Security Cross Cut Paper Shredder stops automatically when the container is full or the door is open and automatically reverses itself in the case of an overfeed or paper jam. With the window on the front to see how things are going, the 8.7 gallon bin is located just below where the shreds fall. You can line it with a bag or use it just as a bucket and again depending on strip-cut or cross-cut, it's a level 2 or level 3 security. Are you looking for a compact paper shredder that can give you a high amount of security? If so, one machine you should definitely check out is the HSM 105.3. This machine has some great special features that make it stand out. Take a look at its strengths and weaknesses to determine if it's the right shredder for you:
Strengths:
- The 105.3 is an excellent choice if security is one of your main priorities. This cross-cut shredder has a level 5 security rating, which is the second highest possible rating. It produces paper bits that are just 1/32" x 7/16" so you can protect both your business and personal information.
- This machine's feed opening is 9.5" wide, which is the perfect size for letter- and legal-sized documents as well as ATM receipts and other small items. However, if your paper is wider than 9.5", you will either need to fold it or cut it down to size before shredding it.
- The 105.3 has cutters that are made out of hardened steel. The cutters are durable enough to tackle documents that have staples or paper clips attached to them, which is nice and convenient. You can also shred credit and debit cards with this device.
- This shredder has an electronic eye in the feed opening. When the electronic eye detects paper, the shredder will start destroying it immediately and then stop running when it's done. (An automatic reverse mode will kick in when there's a paper jam.) The motor is thermally protected so you can shred non-stop when necessary.
- It's possible to share this shredder with a couple of your colleagues since it has an 8.7-gallon waste bin. The machine comes with a reusable shred bag, so you won't need to buy a bunch of plastic ones. This good for both your wallet and the environment.
- If you don't have a lot of free space in your work area, the 105.3 is a great choice. This shredder is compact with approximate dimensions of 14" x 11" x 23". In fact, this device is so compact, you might even be able to store it under a table or desk.

Weaknesses:
- This shredder can only shred about 7 sheets of paper at a time, so it may not be the best choice if you need or want a machine with a high shredding capacity. - It would be nice if this machine had the ability to destroy multimedia items like CD's. If you need to shred those types of things, make sure you have a multimedia shredder at your disposal.
