A central department shredder is found in many offices.  Larger organizations will benefit from the Intimus 602 Strip Cut shredder.  Designed for multiple users, this machine can stand up to the heavy use needed in populated offices.  The 602 line of shredders exemplifies Intimus’ reputation for efficient, quality devices. Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of this machine.

Strengths:

• Function is not sacrificed on this powerhouse shredder.  A compact foldaway shelf offers extra storage while you shred.  Wide computer print outs can sit here and shred while a guide strip ensures accurate feeding.  Operation is fully automatic and user-friendly.  The status of this machine is optically displayed for easy readability.  Dust-free operation works to avoid corrosion from micro-particles and prolongs the life of your shredder.
• Hardened steel cutting cylinders are driven by a powerful, maintenance-free motor. The motor offers two excellent features: continuous operation and “whisper quiet” run.  No more waiting for your machine to cool down after a period of heavy use; this shredder is built to run all day.  And you can forget the annoying whine that usually accompanies shredding since this device is designed for hushed operation.
• A generous 16 inch feed opening effortlessly takes in up to 36 sheets at once, including stapled and paperclipped documents.  Items are shred as fast as 30 feet per minute.  Even your largest shredding stack will be gone within minutes, leaving you more time for yourself and less time spent shredding.
• Narrow ¼ inch strips fall into a massive 4.5 cubic foot shred bag.  That’s equal to approximately 33.6 gallons of waste storage, ample for a central shredder while not being too large to empty.

Weaknesses:

• This hefty device weighs a sizable 132 pounds.  Thankfully, casters mounted on the bottom offer easy mobility by allowing it to be carefully rolled from one location to another.  We don’t foresee this to be a problem for most users.
• The ¼ inch strips only offer a level 2 security rating.  For generic, all-purpose shredding, this will work just fine.  However, if your office needs to dispose of sensitive material, this model is also available in a higher security cross cut model.
• One thing that would be nice to see on such a high use shredder is the ability to shred credit cards and CDs.  Offices needing to dispose of multiple media types may be interested in the high speed version of this model which can destroy not only credit cards and CDs but floppy disks as well.
