Jerry Hill: We wanted a laminator that was easy to use for the operator Dry Tac’s Jet mounter line of laminators are built as entry level machines but have a lot of features that are not found on entry level machines. We built the jet mounters really from the inside out, we used massive rollers and that is really the heart of the machine. Our heavy dustiness allows us to crank extra pressure where needed for certain jobs, yeah nip opening goes up to a full inches on our top of the line machine. This allows for some creativity when mounting to some thicker sub straights. The roll to roll feature is wonderful on the jet mounter, it works flawlessly, we have taken a full roll, a hundred and fifty feet of vinal, over laminated it and taken it up without making any adjustments to the machine and no wrinkles and this is a wonderful feature for those that are doing a lot of car wrap graphic.
Dan Fowler: Hallo I’m Dallas Fowler for Digital EFX Wraps.
Matt Richart: And I’m Matt Richart along with Dallas, we love Dry Tac because of its reliability, durability and it makes use look good every day.
Dan Fowler: I can’t tell you how many years we’ve had prints drift, ever since we’ve had the Dry Tac it’s totally changed our entire lamination situation.
Matt Richart: Great think I love about being a business owner with the dry Tac laminator is how much money we’re saving now since we’re able to laminate the entire roll, we’re saving two feet print with every print and so with actual whole role of film will actually save three to four hundred dollars.
Jerry Hill: We go through a twenty six point checklist before the customer ever receives it, all the gears are metal and we use change dry. The jet mounter really is the last laminator that you need to buy.

Drytac JM18 Pressure-Sensitive Laminator Review

If you've been looking for a cold laminator, you know there are many models to choose from. One machine that's worth a look is the Drytac JM18 Pressure-Sensitive Laminator. It has a lot of great features but there are also some things you need to know before investing in it. Here are the JM18's strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

  • The JM18 has a laminating width that will be great for a variety of items. This machine can laminate items that are up to 18.25 inches wide, so you'll be able to work with letter- and legal-sized documents, posters, maps, artwork, and more.

  • This is a cold process laminator that uses pressure-sensitive film. Due to this, you'll be able to laminate things that would otherwise be damaged during a hot process such as photographs and anything printed with a water-based ink (i.e. color copies and ink-jet printouts).

  • This machine is compatible with mounting boards, so it's a great device to get if you need to create visual aids. The maximum nip opening of this device is 0.75", enabling you to use traditional mounting boards, cardstock, and even foamboard and PVC board.

  • If you're working under a deadline or you just want to get your work done in a hurry, you'll be pleased to know that this device can process your items quickly. In fact, it can process up to 18 feet of material in just one minute.

  • Your hands will remain free during the laminating process because this device comes with a foot pedal.

  • The JM18 isn't isn't very big so you should be able to find room for it in your workspace. This machine has dimensions of 25.5" (width) x 11.75" (depth) x 13" (height), so it really won't take up much room at all.

  • Overall, this is a very well-built machine that you should be able to use for a good, long time to come. It also comes with a one-year warranty so you can get it fixed if necessary.

Weaknesses:

  • As mentioned above, the JM18 is a cold laminator. It lacks a hot setting, so if that's a feature you need for your document finishing, you'll want to select a different machine.

  • The JM18 isn't very big but it does weigh in at 51 pounds. You should get someone to help you out if you ever need to move it so you don't injure yourself.

  • This is a basic, entry-level device so you won't have as much control over the process as you would with a more advanced machine. While this is great for beginners, more experienced users may want something more sophisticated.

Overall, the Drytac JM18 would be a great choice for just about anyone who's in the market for a cold laminator that can handle different types of boards. This product would be great for offices, photography and graphic design studios, copy shops, and schools. Just keep in mind that this is an entry-level device, so it will be easy to use but more advanced users may want a machine with more features. If this sounds like what you need, be sure to take a look at the JM18 today.
