ProductDescription

These Komtrak Inspiral II spiral binding combs provide a new twist on an old binding style. The binding elements are designed for use with a traditional comb binding system; however, documents bound with the Inspiral II system offer convenient 360 degree rotation and a new contemporary look that is far superior to traditional plastic binding combs. Komtrak Inspiral II spiral combs are designed to provide a high quality permanent bind to your most important presentations and proposals. Although these spines are used in conjunction with a traditional plastic comb binding machine, Inspiral II combs work more like spiral coil than plastic combs. You simply spin the Inspiral II coil through the holes on the edge of your book and then bend the ends of the coil over so that the coil doesn't spin back off the book. Be sure to choose a coil size that is 3-5mm greater than your book to allow pages to turn freely.

This is Everything There is to Know About Komtrak Inspiral Combs!

First off, there are two types, Inspiral I and Inspiral II. This video will show you both.

With the largest size of 38mm you can bind about 330 pages. And around 30 with the smallest 10mm size.

It’s made to bind 19 hole punch patterns, which is normally used with plastic binding combs.

With plastic combs you need a machine to bind you documents—but with Komtrak you can do it completely by hand.  Simply twist the binding in all the way.

Lay it on an edge so you can use both hands.

Now the difference between Inspiral 2 is that you bend the ends to close the binding. Do this with small needle-nose pliers

Inspiral 1 comes with a clip you attach to the last two loops—and the other end is already bent for you.

Inspiral 1 is also editable—easily add and remove pages as seen fit.

A benefit to Komtrak Inspiral binding is that it lays flat, and an advantage it has over plastic combs is that it also lays back to back.

Keep in mind that when you do this, it extrudes out the bottom about a centimeter.

This binding functions very similarly to spiral coil, but it works with a 19 hole punch pattern.

Questions & Answers
Q:
How do you close these so they are secure and my pages don't fall out?
Asked by Angelina
A:
Ispiral II spiral combs need to be crimped on the ends in order to prevent them from spinning back off your book. In order to do this you can use a pair of coil crimping pliers. However, many of our customers have told us that they prefer to just use a pair of needle nose pliers to do the finishing. either way just make sure you bend the last 1/4" of the spiral comb over so that it faces into the book to get a nice clean finish to your bind.
