Welcome to MyBinding video. Let's have a look at the Atlas 150, a metal bind system by Opus. Let's watch step-by-step as you bind a hard bound book with the Atlas 150. The channel width selection tool is magnetic and can be placed anywhere on the machine that you'd like. Take two Opus metal bind covers and find the edge that is beveled. These two will stay together and be the binding edge. Inside those, you slide the whole of your document to be bound and place it back on. Jog everything into place so it's nice and centered and make sure that the front cover ends up going toward the back of the machine. But first let's measure the document's thickness and select the right size channel. By sliding the edge up into the channel width selector, you can see the right size channel you need. This, a size seven we'll use. Looking inside of the channel, you'll see one side is slightly curved; this is the side that goes back toward the back end of the machine. Slide it in and all the way to the right. Again, place the front cover or the front of the book toward the back of the machine, slide it all the way into the channel, tap it to the right, and close it with the front wedge that holds it in place. The optional front support fence can be used at this time if you like. Otherwise pull the handle down all the way until it stops, pull up on the lever, bring the stop to the left again, pull your book out, and you're all set. Perfectly bound, it looks great, is very secure, and you have an excellent looking book with a metal bind. That's all there is to it to binding a book with the Atlas 150, a metal bind system by Opus. Welcome to MyBinding video. This is the unboxing and assembly of the Atlas 150, a metal bind binding system by Opus. Everything you need to bind hard bound and soft bound books with a metal bind is right here in one box: the machine itself, the back and front fence for guiding and holding the book in place, back and front covers guide system with measuring tools, the binding lever, an adjustable side stop, and a magnetic channel with a selecting tool. Also included are two Allen wrenches to help tighten things down. There's a user guide and a full color assembly chart. Opus has also included a sample pack of metal binds, both spines called channels, as well as different covers -- hard and soft -- for your convenience. This gives you a good idea of the different kind of covers that are available, such as those that can be laminated, custom covers, different colors, and corresponding covers. It's a solid machine, all-in-one, and fully manual.

Now, let's put it together step-by-step. Turn the machine around to the back side. You'll see on the back panel there are three small screws. Use the smaller Allen wrench of the two to open those up, pull them completely out; it is here where you lock down the back support fence. This holds books and projects right in place as you do your binding. Tighten the screws back up once again and that's step one. Turn the machine to the side and you find the handle; line it up with the grooves on the inside, slide it in, and tighten it down with the screw and the larger of the two Allen wrenches. Hold the handle in place while you tighten it down firmly. That's step two.

Next, you take the back cover guide system, which has a magnetic bar, place it in, and the front cover guide system edge as well. And drape the adjustable side stop on the back wall; you can keep it or remove it as you need for your project. The channel width selecting tool has magnets on the back side, so you can attach it to anywhere on the machine that suits you. Also with magnets is the optional front support fence.

With all these things in place and a little practice, you're on your way to binding superior-looking books. That's the Metal Bind Atlas 150 by Opus. For more demos, reviews, how-tos, and ideas, check out MyBinding.com.

You can use virtually any soft cover with this machine. However, the Masterbind covers are designed specifically to match the binding's style. When binding hardcovers, it is recommended to only use the Masterbind hardcovers.
