Superior Product Review by Ingrid

So happy with my Minicoil spiral binding puncher. Wow. The quality is top-notch and durable. The ease of use is outstanding. Best purchase I've made in a long time. I run classes and workshops, so now I can spiral bind my own workbooks -- saving both time and money in the process. I highly recommend this product.

Great machine Review by ROBERT

It doesn't punch a lot of paper at once but it is a great little machine.

We needed a light duty binder for small jobs, and didn't want to pay a fortune. This did the job we needed done without any problems. Definitely isn't going to consistently handle anything larger than what it's rated, but it does exactly what it says it can do. Instructions are somewhat inadequate -- especially if you don't have any previous experience with binders. However, a little time and practice runs help. Plastic punch out catcher catches in several places, and is cheaply molded, but once I figured out there was no catch or release, you just have to maneuver it out firmly. If/when this one dies, I intend to purchase the same model again.

Binding Apprentice Review by Diandria W.

I purchased this unit to create a spiral booklet. I have never used this type of binder before so I was a bit nervous of as to how I would survive the learning curve and produce a high quality item. All nerves were quickly alleviated from the moment I opened the box! It was very easy to put together and even easier to use. The instructions were absolutely amazing in that there were pictures to guide you along each step...and pictures are worth a thousand words! I would highly recommend this unit every day of the week. I find myself wanting to bind everything on my desk!

Start off by punching a test page to make sure your punches are correct. With your pages aligned, pull the lever down. Then continue punching the rest of your pages. When you're finished punching your book, thread your coil into the first 4 or 5 holes by hand. Make sure you are indeed using 4:1 pitch coil. Then turn the roller on. Place the coil against the roller and it will spin into the rest of the holes. Make sure you have extras on both ends of the book. Remove the excess coil with crimping pliers, which also puts the finishing edge on, so it doesn't unbind. Crimpers are sold separate. The Minicoil-RE is made almost completely of metal. The only plastic is the cover over the punching mechanism. For more demos, reviews and how-to's, go to MyBinding.com.

Welcome to MyBinding.com. This is the MiniCoil-RE Round Hole Punch and Binding Machine with Electric Inserter.

Whether you're binding daily, monthly or yearly, this inexpensive machine makes binding simple and cost effective for you. All MyBinding’s machines are made with high quality, long lasting materials and are backed by a two year warranty for peace of mind. Start by removing the thumbscrew on the right side, slip on the handle and replace the screw. Adjust the left edge stop for the correct size paper, then you can punch up to 8 pages of 20 pound paper. There's an easy 11 inch guide for standard paper, and the punch holes are all numbered. This particular machine makes round holes at a 4:1 pitch, meaning it makes four holes per inch and 43 per page. Remember to use 4:1 wire with these booklets. The tab on the left side of the machine is used to set your margins depending on the size of your booklet. Don’t forget to periodically empty the waste tray. After you've punched your pages and covers, take your coil and twist it through four or five holes. Plug in the machine, and press the red button on top to engage the coil roller. Gently press the coil to the roller and watch the coil spin right through to the end. Even out the ends, take your coil crimpers and crimp the ends so it won't come unbound. Stop paying expensive labor and make perfect booklets on your own time with MyBinding's line of hole punch and binding machines.

Questions & Answers
Q:
why is the Minicoil-OE discontinued? Can I still purchase supplies for the machine I order.
Asked by brenda crosby
A:
Thank you for your question. The machine was discontinued because it was no longer available from the manufacturer. The Minicoil-OE uses standard 4:1 spiral coils and supplies so there would no worry about not being able to get supplies.

Q:
What is the pitch of this machine?
Asked by D. Donald
A:
This machine is a 4:1 pitch machine (4 holes per inch) and produces a 43 hole pattern on the edge of an 11 inch document. 4:1 pitch is the standard punching pattern used by most coil binding machines in the USA.

Q:
Where can I find the supplies for this machine?
Asked by Joseph W.
A:
The Minicoil uses any standard 4:1 coil which can be found under Binding Supplies on our website ( Link: https://www.mybinding.com/binding/binding-supplies/spiral-coil.html )

Q:
What is the small black handle on the side of the machine for?
Asked by Charles K.
A:
That is a depth of margin adjustment. It is used to move the holes either closer or further from the edge of your sheet of paper. If you are binding smaller documents you will want the holes close to the edge and if you are binding larger documents you can move them further away to add strength.

Q:
Are round holes or oval holes better?
Asked by G. Richard
A:
Many of our customers prefer the look of round holes for their documents. However, oval holes are a bit easier for inserting if your documents are thicker than 1/2". If most of your documents, reports or proposals are thinner then round holes is probably a good choice. If not then pay the little bit extra for the oval hole version that you can find here.

What is the warranty?

2 years. If you have any issues give us a call at 1-800-944-4573 and we will help you get it fixed or replaced right away.

Q:
Does it come with coil crimpers?
Asked by Michael D.
A:
No. You will need to buy a pair of crimpers to use with this machine. You can find them here. The pliers will cut off the excess coil and bend the end of the coil over to preven the spine from spinning off the book. Watch the video on the pliers page for instructions on how to use them. It is really easy when you get the hang of it.

Asked by Mrs. P

The MINICOIL Manual Coil Punch with Electric Inserter - Round Hole weighs approx 16 lbs.

Q:
Is there any way of slowing down the roller?
Asked by Cloud H.
A:
Unfortunately there is no way to slow down the roller , it just has a on and off switch. The less pressure you use when putting the coil against the spinning roller, the less friction against the coil and the slower it will insert.
