Simplicity, flexibility, productivity. For nearly four decades these objectives have defined Gateway’s approach to book binding. Now with the introduction of the PBS 3000QS quick setup automatic coil inserter all three are about to be taken to an entirely new level. The PBS 3000QS is the most affordable and easy to use automatic coil inserter on the market. The 3000QS has been designed to accommodate not only the large volume runs at the trade bindery and in plants but also to conform to the high expectations of digital printing and finishing on demand. As the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic spiral binding, no one understands this industry better than Gateway. That’s why the 3000QS’ success isn’t based on a single advance or improvement, every detail of setup, inserting, cutting and finishing has been examined and addressed with the customer needs in mind. The QS stands for quick setup and quick setup is what the PBS 3000QS delivers. No tools are required for basic setup. Changeover between jobs takes only minutes with unique coil sizing and carriage adjustment gauge, and logical operation, ergonomic working surfaces and convenient foot peddle actuation mean that even the newest employee will quickly get up to speed. The PBS 3000QS was designed from the ground up for low maintenance and high reliability meaning that expensive service contracts are a thing of the past. In the binding industry flexibility is key. You want the option of being able to run a job of fifty books that call for an eight millimeter coil switch over to an order of five thousand or fifteen millimeter coil and then back again. For Gateway that kind of performance wasn’t viewed as a hopeful option, but a standard requirement. With the setup fifteen spine formers included, the 3000QS is designed to handle an unmatched variety of book thicknesses. Five to twelve inch binding edges are easily accommodated on the standard unit with the seventeen inch model also available for the wider book and calendars runs. The majority of European formats have also been accommodated. Eight to twenty millimeter coil diameters with options that extend that range in both directions, and not only is the range of books that can be bound wider than ever before, but changing between runs has never been quicker or easier. Downtime has reduced to an absolute minimum, enhancing customer service and saving money. Utilizing the recommended oversize oval punch hole enables the 3000QS to realize its maximum productivity. You can produce up to six hundred bound and finished books an hour, making it the ideal choice for any size operation. The amazing productivity of the 3000QS is made possible by its revolutionary design. [Inaudible 4:08], spine former and book clamp work together to make sure that each book is perfectly positioned to receive coil and vertical book placement means even tabbed or extended cover books are bound flawlessly. Productivity demands quality and the 3000QS delivers without compromise. Every one of those six hundred books per hour has coil inserted, cut and finished cleanly and consistently reducing waste and increasing profitability. Top quality materials and precision engineering ensure that the PBS 3000QS will give you years of smooth, quiet operation, and the small foot print and standard power requirements mean the 3000QS is the perfect tool for any binding environment. The PBS 3000QS Gateway bookbinding systems a revolutionary advance from the first name of Plastic Spiral.

Great Question! Unfortunately the metal coil does not work well with inserters. You can punch it with this machine but you would have to hand spin the metal coil in.
