Thank you for the question. The Rhin-O-Tuff 3000 Desktop Electric Coil binding Machine with Inserter and Crimper will work with Synaps paper. However, the Rhin-O-Tuff 3000 would only be able to bind 3 to 4 pages at a time if you use 10mil paper.

Thank you for your question. When coil binding you would need to use a new coil to rebind the book. You have to trim the crimped ends of the coil to be able to spin it out, leaving it too short to be used to rebind the book.

There are metal spiral coils that will match the hole pattern that the Rhin-O-Tuff 3000 Desktop Electric Coil Binding Machine with Inserter and Crimper will punch but you would not want to use the electric crimpers to crimp the metal spiral coils as it is designed to be used with the standard plastic spiral coils.

This system includes an open throat design that will allow you to punch documents up to 23 inches in length using a multiple step punching process. However, it is really ideal for binding letter size and A4 size documents which it can do in a single step. It also has disengageable punching pins which will allow it to bind smaller sized documents including 8.5” x 5.5” half size documents and landscape bound books.
This machine can be used with 6mm-50mm coil. The coil inserter and crimper can be adjusted for these sizes and all the sizes in between. However, if you have ever tried to bind documents with a 50mm coil you know that it isn’t a simple task. The machine will help but it is still difficult to bind really large documents with coil. That is an issue with the binding style more than the machine
If you want to attach the tray you need to use the knob that adjusts the bottom roller so that it is open all the way. Once the bottom roller is moved down as far as it can go (50mm setting) you should be able to attach the tray.
There are two options. You can press the small punch button on the front of the machine. Or you can press the button on the top of the machine to allow the foot pedal to operate the punch. To operate the crimper you can switch the foot pedal back so that it crimps the document. The roller is operated by the button on the front of the machine and can not be controlled by the foot pedal.
The knob is a depth of punch margin control. It allows you to adjust the distance between the edge of your paper and the holes that you are punching. For smaller books it is best to keep the holes closer to the edge and for larger books moving the holes further away will provide strength.
The warranty on this machine is 1 year. There aren’t really any user serviceable parts on the machine other than the fuse in the back. In the rare instance where you do have a problem you can give us a call or give the manufacturer a call and we will help you troubleshoot the issues over the phone. If our technicians can’t help you resolve the problem then you will need to ship the machine back to the factory (Rhin-O-Tuff is based in Boise ID). They will repair the machine and get it back to you as quickly as possible. That being said, Rhin-O-Tuff has a reputation for building amazing quality equipment and the chances of having an issue are very small.
