This is the third Swingline Long Reach Stapler I've owned, however NOT because of the stapler. They are quite heavy-duty, IF used properly. My last two Swingline staplers died sudden and violent deaths, when I allowed other people to use them. When stapling a relatively large number of pages, a little extra downward pressure is necessary. It is NOT necessary (or advisable) to pound the stapler, which is what a couple of folks did to my previous Swinglines. For durability and ease of use, these staplers can't be beat without investing in a far more expensive electric stapler. As I mentioned in the title, the design has been improved even since I bought my last one. The paper depth stop was originally made of plastic, and held its position just by being snug against the rails. This worked fine until the plastic became loose from repeated adjustments. The current model has a cleverly designed metal depth stop. One squeezes the pair of metal "wings" to allow the stop to slide. Releasing the wings allows the metal stop to grip the metal rail, and the stop is there to stay until ready for the next depth adjustment. There's no chance that the stop will move and allow the stapler to place the staple in the wrong place. I've already used my new Swingline Long Reach Stapler to produce a batch of folded calendars for a customer, and I am absolutely pleased with the stapler's performance. Actually, the only thing I would suggest as an improvement, would be an adjustable side stop to simplify placing the staples consistently from piece to piece. Generally, this is a top-notch piece of equipment!

Use this stapler for in house publications. Saving $.08 per booklet, this product will pay for itself long before it's worn out. Easy to use, fell on the floor and did not hurt it. I am a happy camper...

The Long Reach Stapler allows me to turn standard 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of paper off my office printer into professional quality manuals and booklets. For projects where I only need a few copies it let me produce something in my home office that looks like it was sent out to a professional print shop.
Swingline 34121 Long-Reach Stapler Review
A long-reach stapler can be a handy tool to have around the office especially if you want the ability to staple your documents in the middle of the page. One device that can help you do that is the Swingline 34121, one of the best long-reach staplers around. Here are its strengths as well as a couple of minor weaknesses so you can determine if this is the stapler you need.
The most unique thing about the 34121 is that it was specially designed for long-reach stapling. When you use this device, you'll be able to staple a full 12 inches away from the edge of the paper. That makes this item perfect for creating booklets and other documents that require stapling in the middle. You can even use the 34121 to staple tags to items which could come in handy around the holidays.
The 34121 can staple up to 20 sheets of paper. This is a pretty common stapling capacity and it's good for small jobs.
You can fasten the 34121 to your work surface if you wish. Doing so ensures you'll get the job done right the first time because there's no chance of the stapler moving around when you're using it. This device also has a ruler and an adjustable paper guide so you can properly align your documents before fastening them together.
This device offers jam-free stapling thanks to its inner rail and performance-driven mechanism. Not having to deal with jams will help you save time and paper. It will also make your workday go more smoothly.
The 34121 is compatible with Swingline S.F. 4 Premium staples which are easy to find.
This stapler has metal parts so you can expect to get a lot of use out of it. It's extremely durable and will be able to withstand years of use. And it comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
If you need to fasten more sheets together, you should choose a device with a higher stapling capacity since the 34121 can only fasten 20 sheets together. (If you need to make booklets, a booklet maker would be a good choice.)
This device is only available in black. It would be nice if different colors were available.
The Swingline 34121 Long-Reach Stapler is one of the best of its kind on the market. This is a solidly built product that will provide you with years of use. It's great that this device can staple paper right in the middle, so you'll be able to use this stapler for a variety of projects. You'll be able to get the results you need every time you use it thanks to the paper guide and the sturdiness of the device. The stapling capacity could be improved a bit, but it will be fine for everyday jobs. Without a doubt, the 34121 is the one to get if you need a long-reach stapler, so check it out for yourself today.
