We are going to start with the control panel which is automatic. There is a paper thickness adjustor, you can refer to your owner's manual on page 8 for more information. There is a trouble shooting indicator panel, if you get a jam, you can either; the first or the second tray, the light will indicate that. If you run out of paper, the light will indicate that. If you get a more internal jam, the light will indicate it and you'll want to start with your stacker. There are 6 pre-programmed folds already in the machine for the letter, legal sized paper. You can do custom folds and you can do 11 x 17 fold. You'll need to refer to your manual for that. These buttons here, will indicate and move the lights over to follow along with each fold that you want to do.

Before starting your job, you will always need to push the middle button, which will give you one piece of paper with that fold. Check your fold and make sure everything's right. If it's crooked, there is a skew that you can adjust, you can refer to your manual for that or you can just look in the front of your machine and you will see the skew. There is a counter with the reset button, there is also a speed. You can adjust your speed prior to doing your job. Stop and a start button. Here is your box fold; in half and half again. Now we are going to move on to our next fold, which is an Engineer's fold, again you are going to use the right arrow, which moves your light over and indicates it right above your Engineer's Fold. Push the middle button to test it. Okay, here is your Engineer's fold.

Now, we're going to move onto our next fold, which is a Letter Fold. Again, we are going to use our right arrow. Push the middle button. We now have our Letter Fold. The next fold we are going to demonstrate is the Z-Fold. Use the right arrow, move your light over. Always push the middle button to do your test run. Here is your Z-fold. The last fold, which is pre-programmed is going to be your Brochure Fold. Push the right arrow to move your light over. Again, push the middle button to run your test run. We have your Brochure Fold.

I'm now going to demonstrate the Letter Fold, by moving the left arrow over to show underneath the letter. I'm going to adjust the speed higher because you have to do it at the beginning of your job. Always the middle button to test your job. If your job is okay, go ahead and run the start button. You'll now see the paper come through the exit, go through the stacker and shingle. Push the stop button, but the counter counted 16 pieces. Your counter will continually run until you push the stop button.

Remember your Dynafold model 330 can also do legal sized paper and 11 x 17. To change it, go to the legal sized paper which is 11.5 x 14; you are going to push the down arrow. If we wanted to do a letter fold on 8.5 x 14, we would move it automatically down. Otherwise, you use the left arrow to change the different types of fold and the down button to make sure that it's on the size paper you want. Custom folds you can refer to the owner's manual on pages 10 and 11.

You'll notice the red indicator light. There's no paper; we talked about that earlier in this video. We are taking an 11 x 17 paper; we're loading it into the feeder tray. You are going to want to move in your sides so that your paper is nice and firmly in the middle. Bring up your lever; your light goes off. When loading your paper there is no need to fan it. Also, you'll notice that this machine comes with an automatic adjustment for your paper thickness. It will hold a full ream or 500 sheets of standard 20 pound paper. Since we are using 11 x 17, we are doing a semi custom fold. You are going to hold both these buttons down until you see this display on your counter. Then you are going to use your arrow to adjust on your plate the pin where it needs to go. 11 x 17 and a half will need to be at 8.5. Like all the other folds we've seen, you push the middle button to check your size and make sure that your fold is right. Remember that we are folding 11 x 17 in half. On your custom folds, because you're bypassing your pre-programmed folds, you need to push the stop button first, then the start button and your job will run.

We've now folded 11 17.5, we are going to do another fold, we are going to Letter Fold this. Before doing that you always want to reinforce your spine or your crease on your 11x17. You are going to place your paper as far right as possible and the spine as close to the middle as you can. Adjust your guide plate. You are going to lift your lever. Increase your speed whenever doing a cross fold because the paper seems to be a little bit thicker and remember we started off with long paper. Always push the middle button to test it.

There you have the 11x17 cross fold paper. Remember that even though we have to put it all the way to the right, you don't want to put it so far that it's not going to hit the roller. So, make a little adjustment on the right hand side. The spine, re-crease it and put it in as close to the middle as you can without going too far to the right to where you are not going to hit the roller. And that is your Dynafold Model 330.

Dynafold PF-330 Automatic Paper Folding Machine Review

For a high volume, easy-to-use automatic paper folder, the Dynafold PF-330 is a great system.  This device offers multiple folds completed at high speeds with a wide variety of paper sizes and weights.  Its easy configuration makes it perfect for schools, mail rooms, print and copy shops, churches, and offices desiring high value performance with simple operation.  Let’s take a closer look at the PF-330.

Strengths:

  • This folder works straight out of the box.  Forget needing to manually setup the plates, it does everything for you.  A lighted panel offers digital push button control.  Clearly marked icons help you to effortlessly select your paper size and desired fold without any preparation needed on your end.  The display will show your selection as well as let you know when the plates are properly set and ready for use.  Skew adjustment ensures your papers come out in precise folds. The folder also self-adjusts to various paper thicknesses.
  • Six preset folds are offered by this machine: single, double parallel, foldout, “C”, “Z”, and gate. Additional folds, including a cross fold, can be customized.  You can create and save up to four custom fold for convenient switching the next time you need one of them.
  • A wide variety of paper is accepted by this machine, ranging from 16lb to 40lb bond.  This includes bond, duplicating, rough, and recycled paper.  Even a few glossy or coated papers can be folded but it’s best to test one of these first to be sure.
  • Electronic presets for A4, A5, letter, and legal size documents are pre-programmed into this device.  Items as small as 5″ x 7″ up to 11″ x 17″ can also go through.  The feed table holds up to 500 sheets of 20lb bond and sends items through at fast as 7800 sheets per minute.  Speed is adjustable as needed.  A 4-digit dual counter shows the number of folded items until reset as well as the total number of folds performed to date.  Neatly folded documents are ejected and stacked via carriage belt.  A sensor alerts the user when the paper is empty.
  • In the rare case of a paper jam, a sensor detects it and alerts the user.  An additional cool feature is the map on the display panel that shows where the jam is located so you can quickly clear it and get back to work.
  • Dynafold offers a one year warranty on this product.

Weaknesses

  • At about 71 pounds, this is a good sized machine.  But it might not work well in a tight space. For medium offices, this could easily store on an electronics table alongside a large printer.  Be sure you consider the size folder you will need; we’d hate for you to be disappointed by getting something too large or too small for your office.
  • This device doesn’t have the option of a manual feed for folding multi-sheet documents together.  Many offices may not needs this and will enjoy the product as is.  But if you frequently need to fold multi-page newsletters or other items, you might look into folders with this option.

As you can see from the many strengths, the Dynafold PF-330 offers great value and performance.  Any office would highly benefit from the efficiency and convenience of this machine.  We think the PF-330 is a great choice for your next automatic paper folder.
