Product Description
These 5/8" black metal spiral coil binding spines are designed for use in any 4:1 pitch spiral coil binding machine. These metal spiral coils are made of nylon coated steel, making them sturdier, stronger and heavier than the plastic coils. Although these particular coils are black, we carry metal spiral coils in 3 different colors and in sizes up to 2" in diameter. Get 50pk on every order of 5/8" Black 4:1 Metal Spiral Coil Binding Spines.
Note: You need to use a pair of needle nose pliers to crimp the ends of the wire. Standard coil crimpers cannot be used.

Here is the link to our Sizing Guide - you can estimate the diameter needed by looking for the document's thickness, and finding corresponding Coil size bookhttps://www.mybinding.com/sizing-guides. General rule of thumb is to add 1/8" (4mm) to the thickness of your completed book ( including covers) to determine the size of spine that you will need.

Thank you for your question. The Black 4:1 Metal Spiral Coil Binding Spines will work with any standard 4:1 coil punch, including GBC branded 4:1 coil machines. You would not want to use the standard crimping pliers for the metal coils. They are designed for the pvc plastic and would be damaged. The metal coils are a new product and there actually isn't a dedicated tool available for them yet. We suggest a pair of needle nose pliers that has a wire snip incorporated in them.
