Welcome to MyBinding video. Here's a look at the Tamerica TPC-4600, a 4:1 Pitch Coil Binding machine. The TPC-4600 is an all-in-one unit that allows you to make a spiral bound notebook. Here at MyBinding, we refer to that as coil. And this machine punches a 4:1 punch pattern. 4 holes for every inch. That's the size of coil you'll need. This side margin control on the left hand side keeps your papers nice and steady so all of your punches are consistent. On the left hand side of the machine is a depth of margin control knob allowing you to have thicker or thinner margins for larger or smaller books. You'll want to make sure your scrap paper is perfect before you move on to your project. And if you start face up, do your whole project face up. The lever arm on the right hand side comes all the way down to the click. You know you've punched through the entire stack. This machine has a punch capacity of 15 sheets of 20 pound paper in a single punch but 10 to 12 is more realistic and easier to do. All the chips fall here into the chip tray on the left hand side. Now that you're all punched, it's time to bind. Organize your paper and begin the wire on one end. The TPC-4600 has a nice little coil inserter built into the top of the machine. Turn it on and once initiate, you can slide that coil right down the spine of your book with ease. Finish off your project with the coil crimping pliers on both ends and you're all set with the perfect book with the TPC 4600. For more demos, reviews, and how-to's, check out MyBinding.com.

This machine can punch up to 80 lb card stock and 16 mil poly covers effectively. It can also punch chipboard up to 20 pt. With testing it may go thicker for poly and chipboard depending on the material composition.

That is the continuous punching guide on the Tamerica TPC-4600 4:1 Coil Punch & Bind Machine with Crimping Pliers, to line up your paper when you are punching longer sized sheets.

Great question! So you can punch your paper on this machine. Unfortunately the metal coils would have to be hand spun into the book and you would actually use needle nose pliers to crimp the ends. The crimpers do not work on the metal coils. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question. The handle on the Tamerica TPC-4600 does not fold down for storage. It would have to be removed or left upright.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPC-4600 4:1 Coil Punch & Bind Machine would be able to punch stock laminated with a 3 mil laminate one at a time. When punching laminated stock you will want to periodically make a few punches on scrap paper stock between punching laminated stock to help keep the dies clear of adhesive build up.

Thank you for your question. You would not want to use the standard crimping pliers for the metal coils. They are designed for the pvc plastic and would be damaged. The metal coils are a new product and there actually isn't a dedicated tool available for them yet. We suggest a pair of needle nose pliers that has a wire snip incorporated in them.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPC-4600 4:1 Coil Punch & Bind Machine with Crimping Pliers will only punch 11.5 inches, which means there will be quite a bit at either end of your paper that is unpunched. It might be better to go with a machine that has a larger punching throat, which will allow you to punch the full length of your 12" paper. Please give us a call at 800-944-4573, or send us a chat, and we can help you with that.

Thank you for your question. Oval holes have the advantage when binding and using documents with a higher page count. The slightly larger oval holes give the coil a bit more wiggle room and can help cut down on friction while binding.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPC-4600 4:1 Coil Punch & Bind Machine is able to punch up to 15 sheets of 20 # paper at a time. The largest of the spiral coils is 50mm which can hold up to 440 sheets of 20# paper. When binding books that would require a coil 45mm or larger the coil may need to be spun in by hand doe to the friction caused by the larger sheet count.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPC-4600 does have a open throat so it would be able to accommodate stock wider than 12" but it does not have a continuous punching guide to keep the hole spacing even with the first pass. It would be very hard to keep the hole spacing even on the second pass.

Thank you for your question. The Tamerica TPC-4600 would be able to punch through a single 5mil laminated sheet but it may have some issue with 10 mil. The other concern would be if you are punching lots of laminated sheets there may start to be a build up of adhesive from the laminate after repeated use which would cause issues.
