This is Dahle’s Premium Large Format Guillotine Paper Cutters.
As you can tell, the blade is quite massive—and your poor fingers are protected by a clear shield.
On the surface are many guides for paper sizes (including A2) and common angles.
It has inch and centimeter measurements and the edge guide is especially sturdy. Easily make adjustments and tighten it back up.
You can also move the edge guide to either side of the cutter.
Now lift the side tray up to prepare for our cut.
Evenly align your pages with the guides, grab the handle, press the foot pedal to clamp the pages in place and make your cut. and you’re done.
To ensure you make the right cut every time, you can ask for an optional laser guide.
Lastly, I tried to cut a larger stack of pages. And though it took quite a bit of force it did cut. I will note that the more pages you cut at a time, the less clean the cut will be—we recommend cutting less than 30 sheets.
And below you can store all your scraps, or really whatever you want down there.
Dahle 585 Premium Large-Format Guillotine Paper Cutter Review
Guillotine paper cutters can either be small or large, and one of the best large-format ones available is the Dahle 585 Premium. This device is made from high-quality materials, has a great cutting capacity, and it can be used to cut really large sheets of paper. Here's everything you need to know about it to decide if it's right for you.
When you select a paper cutter, you need to think about how many sheets you want to be able to cut at one time. A larger cutting capacity is generally better and the Dahle 585 certainly has one. It can cut up to 30 sheets at a time, so it's great for all kinds of jobs.
Another important consideration is the cutting length. Choosing a device that can cut large sheets of paper is generally a good idea unless you don't have room for a large trimmer. The Dahle 585 can cut paper that's up to 43 inches long, so you'll be able to use it for those really large projects.
As far as size goes, this cutter measures 53" x 41" so it's definitely going to take up a fair amount of room. This device comes with a stand, so you're basically getting a piece of furniture in addition to a paper cutter. Because of this product's size, it would probably be better for print shop-like environments as opposed to offices.
The Dahle 585 has a fantastically sharp blade that's made out of Solingen steel. The blade is self-sharpening so you'll be able to get a lot of use out of it. The blade can be locked into place after cutting so there won't be any injuries. There's also a plastic safety shield that will keep your hands safe as you cut.
This cutter has a metal base which helps make the entire thing very durable. There inches and centimeters are both printed on it, along with an alignment grid, so you'll be able to get the most accurate cut possible. To keep your materials in place, there's a paper clamp that will help the pages from fanning. There's also an adjustable backstop to help make cutting easier.
The Dahle 585 has a cut-off shelf that can fold up when you're not using it. This can help reduce the amount of space the device takes up. The shelf will hold your paper scraps for you so they don't end up on the floor. Also, there's a shelf underneath the base that you can use for storage.
Finally, the Dahle 585 is covered by a lifetime warranty.
All together, the Dahle 585 would be an excellent choice if you want a large-format guillotine cutter. The cutting capacity and length can't be beat, and the device is well-made so it can withstand a lot of use. The size might be a bit much for some work environments, but if your workspace is large enough, you'll love what this cutter can do for you. So check out the Dahle 585 today.
