Dahle Stack Cutters are manually operated but make easy cutting of up to 500 sheets of paper at a time. Safety shields can be found on either side of the cutting blade and will not allow the blade to move while they are in the up position. Once the shields are in place, you have the ability to cut cleanly though 500 sheets of paper with very little effort. This clean, burr free cut through such a large stack of paper is made possible through a ground Solingen Steel blade and a paper clamp that places even pressure across the entire cutting surface. The two larger machines offer a self-locking spindle driven backstop for minute adjustments to your cutting measurements. These cutters can be mounted on any secure table surface although the optional floor stands are recommended for proper cutting height and leverage.

This is the Dahle 846 Heavy Duty 500 Sheet Stack Cutter!To start, lift the protective shield and insert your ream of paper, then close the shield.Use the lever in the front to make your measurement adjustments. Each number moves it a millimeter, and a full revolution is a centimeter.We can see here how it moves in the back.Of course it has both inch and centimeter measurements, and guides to common paper lengths.Next, pull the back lever to clamp your pages in place. This is a very sturdy clamp.Then pull the large lever down to make your cut—it takes a bit of work to pull it down, but for cutting 500 sheets at a time, it seems pretty easy.Not to mention that the cut produced is incredibly clean—this is very impressive indeed!Now, if the safety shield is open you cannot pull down the lever to make your cut. This is a very important safety feature.Turn this guy on the left to make small adjusts to your blade distance.There is a cutting mat at the bottom of the blade, when the groove in this gets too deep, rotate and flip the bar as needed for cleaner cuts—note that you do this 8 times per bar.Lastly, you can choose to include the optional stand to store projects on and to hold your cutter.

When it comes to cutting tools, the stack cutter is king. A stack cutter can cut hundreds of sheets of paper in what seems like the blink of an eye. One of models currently available is the Dahle 846 Heavy-Duty Stack Cutter. Here's a review of this machine so you can learn all about it.

The 846 is definitely the device you need if you routinely need to cut huge stacks of paper. This machine can cut up to 500 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper at once. That's the equivalent of one ream of paper. This device's blade is also able to cut stacks of cardstock. However, since cardstock is thicker than 20 lb. bond paper, you won't be able to cut as much of it at one time.
This device can cut paper that's up to 16-7/8 inches wide. You'll be able to cut paper of many different sizes including letter-sized sheets (8.5" x 11").
As with many of their cutting tools, Dahle has made this machine's blades out of Solingen steel. This type of steel is one of the most durable metals available. The rest of the device is also made out of metal (albeit not Solingen steel), so you can expect to get a lot of use out of it.
The 846 is a very large machine that measures 30" x 25-1/2". It's also extremely heavy, weighing in at 134 pounds. If you need this machine but you don't have a large enough surface for it, you can order a stand. This stand is durable and it even has a shelf so you'll have some extra storage space. Whether you choose to order the stand or not, you'll need to be careful when moving the 846 because it's so heavy.
As with any cutting tool, safety is a concern when using the 846. This device is equipped with built-in plastic safety covers that will help keep your hands away from the cutting area.
To ensure the best possible cut, this machine has a manual clamp to keep everything in place. There's also a scale bar so you can measure the paper before cutting it. The scale bar has both metric and standard measurements. This device also has a spindle-driven backstop so you can cut repeatedly.
The 846 is a bright blue color. (Think of the Cookie Monster - it's the same exact color.) The color might be off-putting and unfortunately, there are no other hues available.

When it comes right down to it, the Dahle 846 is a very simple machine: it's made to cut large stacks of paper and it does so beautifully. With a 500-sheet cutting capacity, this machine is ideal for workplaces needing a heavy-duty device. You can cut different sizes of paper with it and get great results all the time while staying safe. Of course, you'll need to make sure you can accommodate its size and that the color isn't going to be a total eyesore. EXCEPTIONAL CUTTER

This cutter is awesome. This is Not your typical curved blade tabletop cutter. This is a heavy duty office equipment. Once you set the clamp to secure the paper and close the safety cover, cutting a ream of paper requires very little effort. It cuts very straight. The trick is to make sure to spend the time aligning the edges of your paper bundle before clamping it down. The mechanical operation was smooth and the clamp held its place. One of the most time saving and practical pieces of equipment we've bought so far. It is of high quality and sturdy construction. The blade is a Solingen Germany blade from the same renowned knife capital of Wusthoff and Henkels. The unit is very heavy so moving around is not recommended but it is very stable. Highly recommended, would purchase again. Buying the matching stand is highly recommended to get the most out this cutter.

Good paper cutter for the price

For the price, this cutter works well. It is a strong blade that stays sharp for a lot of cuts, but you do need to position the paper accurately. It is not difficult to do, but it does require some effort to calibrate your system so that it works well every time.
