Swingline LightTouch Heavy-Duty Hole Punch Review

If you've been looking for a heavy-duty hole punch that can handle a lot of paper, you should take a peek at the Swingline LightTouch. Here are it strengths and weaknesses for your perusal.

Strengths:

  • The LightTouch has a particularly impressive punching capacity. It's able to punch up to 40 sheets of paper at once, so this is a great device to use if you're working on a big project. (Note: the punching capacity is based on 20 lb. bond paper. You won't be able to punch as much at once if your paper is thick.)

  • This device includes 3 standard, semi-adjustable punching heads so you'll be able to create a variety of hole patterns (i.e. three-hole, two-hole, etc.). Due to this, the LightTouch is an extremely versatile device and one that should be the solution to all your punching needs. The holes punched will be 9/32" so your pages will turn easily once they're in a binder.

  • When you use the LightTouch, you insert your documents at the top of the device. This will lead to good results because all of your sheets will be flush due to gravity.

  • This punch offers jam-free performance so you'll be able to keep punching. Jam-free operation is guaranteed with this device.

  • The LightTouch has a very modern look to it. You can count on it looking great in your workplace. Even the chip tray looks great because it's translucent. (This is especially handy since you'll be able to see when it needs to be emptied.)

  • This device is easy to use - it only needs 50% of the typical effort used when working with a traditional punch.

  • To top it all off, this product is covered by a fantastic limited lifetime warranty.

Weaknesses:

  • The LightTouch is kind of bulky so it will take up a bit more room than an ordinary punch. Also, the handle can't be locked in the "down" position.

  • While this device can produce a variety of hole patterns, it doesn't produce the patterns needed for certain types of binding, i.e. plastic comb, wire, etc. You'll need to have a different machine on-hand if you want to do those kinds of binding.

The Swingline LightTouch is a terrific heavy-duty hole punch and is definitely worth your consideration. This device offers an excellent punching capacity so you'll be able to get all of your paper processed in a short amount of time. The semi-adjustable punching heads are really handy and will allow you to get the right hole pattern for your particular document. The top-loading design is very original for this kind of office tool and it will help you get the results you need. And, of course, this device is easy to use and is covered by a great warranty. While it won't help you out when preparing your documents for other binding methods, overall the LightTouch is a fabulous device and one you should take a look at now.

Thank you for your question. In checking with the manufacturer the Swingline LightTouch Heavy Duty Hole Punch is only set up to work with letter sized ( and smaller) paper, so unfortunately it would not be able to accommodate legal sized sheets on the the 14" side of the page.

Unfortunately this punch only is a 9/32" hole punch. We do have other punches on our website that are for 11/32" holes.

This machine has an adjustable side guide for 8.5" x 11" paper, for either the length or width side of the page. It does not punch A4.

There are some screws on the bottom of the punch, directly under each punch head. (they'll stand out a bit and are darker than the rest of the bottom) Just unscrew them and they'll slide back and forth to whatever position you need.
