This is the Pro-Bind 2000 Thermal Binding Machine!

There are two main features other than it’s durability. One is that it has a 2 inch binding capacity. The other is the binding length—long enough for even legal size books.

Before starting, make sure you have the correct size covers for your page amounts. As you can see from this guide, my book is very small.

Next, open your thermal binding cover.  Observe the glue strip in the center—you always want your pages within the width of this.  You can see it easier on this hardcover. Make sure your pages do not exceed past this width. At the same time, your pages should not be too few for the cover size.

But it’s a simple as jogging your pages evenly together and inserting them against the glue strip. Close the book up, jog the pages again, and while holding the pages still insert the spine of your book into the machine.

Give it another tap down so the pages are against the glue and insert it in.  Since I am making a soft cover, I will push the soft cover button.  This cycle took closer to a minute until it beeped notifying that it was finished. It’s important to then tap the pages down one last time and put it in the cooling rack, this way the pages are always in the glue until it hardens.

If you’re not filling the space with multiple books, then you are not taking full advantage of this machine. Here I can make 9 small books at once.

If you want to make hard covers, than this is a great machine. Again, jog your pages, align them evenly, tap them in place and insert the spine of your book into the machine.  Push the hardcover button and wait for the machine to finish. This book took over two minutes.

When it’s done remove the book and give it another tap, but instead of placing the book into the cooling tray, you’ll want to immediately place it into a hard cover crimper to hold the binding closed and to ensure all the glue stick to your pages.

Now we have some beautiful and durable soft covered books, and hardcover books.  Better yet you can purchase completely customized covers just for you, but you do have to call us to set that up.

This is the Pro-Bind Hard Cover Crimper!

After completing a hardcover heat cycle in you thermal binding machine, jog the pages down and immediately insert your hard cover into this crimper—of course I’m going to explain why.

As you can see, push on the handle to open the crimper and insert your book.

The crimper is rounded on both ends to create a nice finish on the spine of your book.

You can adjust the back by pulling it out and repositioning it in the other slots.

Now you can crimp up to two inch thick books!

A good portion of hardcovers have three lines of glue. The one in the center holds all your pages in, and the two side ones helps hold the covers together.

If you only had one strip in the center then your binding would open and expose the glued ends, but the side strips help close the spine and support the binding. (The crimper makes sure the book hardens this way).

Here is a finished book, with nicely rounded and crimped ends, and you can see that the glue is hidden and the covers and spine are nicely supported.

Pro-Bind 2000 Yearbook Binding Kit Review

With budgets being cut in schools across the nation, it's never been more important to save money. If your school is looking for a cost-effective way to put your yearbooks together, you should take a look at the Pro-Bind 2000 Yearbook Binding Kit from MyBinding.com. It has everything you'll need to indulge in this academic tradition without breaking the bank. Here's a short look at what's contained in this kit so you can decide if it's right for you.

  1. The Pro-Bind 2000. This machine is a thermal binding device that can bind a hardcover document in about one minute. (This binder can process a softcover device in half that time.) It's possible to bind more than one book at a time depending on the thickness of your work. Also, this machine has an open throat that's 14.75" wide so you won't be stuck working with letter-sized covers. The Pro-Bind 2000 features all-metal construction for durability and it's unlikely to overheat because the heater and circuit board aren't next to each other. Best of all, this machine is easy to operate so you'll be able to get your students involved in the binding process. The Pro-Bind 2000 is backed by a one-year warranty.

  2. The Pro-Bind Crimper. If you make hardcovers books with the Pro-Bind 2000, you're going to need to crimp them right after they come out of the device. Crimping helps straighten your document's spine and makes the binding more secure overall. You can do this with the Pro-Bind Crimper. Just stick your book inside the crimper and pull down on the handle. Your book will then be finished and you can move on to other things. (Note this device can only crimp one book at a time.) The crimper also has a one-year warranty.

  3. Fifty hardcover binding spines. Finally, this package comes with a box of 50 hardcover binding spines. These covers are designed for use with letter-sized paper (8.5" x 11") and depending on their size, they can bind up to 280 sheets. Four different colors are available : black, white, maroon, and blue. (Note: all covers are finished with a kidskin-like material.) You can even get a design, logo, or statement printed on these covers to give your yearbooks an eye-catching look. Foil-stamping is also available.

All in all the Pro-Bind 2000 Yearbook Binding Kit has all you need to bind your own yearbooks without spending a lot of money. The Pro-Bind binding machine is one of the most durable devices on the market and it will help bind your yearbooks quickly and easily. The Crimper is a nice addition, especially since you'll need one to finish off your work. And you can't go wrong with a bunch of hardcover spines. The only thing you should keep in mind about this kit is that it's better for smaller schools simply because you'll only be able to bind one or two documents at a time. So if all of this sounds good to you, visit MyBinding.com today so you can order this great kit and get started on that yearbook while saving money.

Thank you for your question. All of the stock thermal covers are only availble in US letter size which is 8.5"x11" . For other sized stock custom covers would be required. For custom thermal covers we would need to get a quote from the manufacturer. Please reach out to our customer service team either through live chat,by e-mail at [email protected], or by phone at 1-800-944-4573 and we would be happy to coordinate with the manufacturer to get a quote for some custom covers.

If you are looking to print the cases yourself, you will need a case maker. When using a case maker, you can run a tacking sheet through a large enough printer, then wrap the sheet around chipboard to make a hardcover. Fastbind case makers and tacking sheets are great for that, but due to the added complexity, we have left this option out for the yearbook kits. If you have more questions regarding custom hardcovers, give us a call and we will be happy to help.
